Doesn’t this mean that the system is never up to date? If so, please don’t.
themoonisacheese@sh.itjust.worksto Technology@lemmy.ml•‘Sputnik moment’: $1tn wiped off US stocks after Chinese firm unveils AI chatbot1021·3 months agoIt’s quite lucid. The new thing uses a fraction of compute compared to the old thing for the same results, so Nvidia cards for example are going to be in way less demand. That being said Nvidia stock was way too high surfing on the AI hype for the last like 2 years, and despite it plunging it’s not even back to normal.

Once I had a similar problem and the root cause was basically that in the course of unplugging all USB shit just in case, I replugged my VR headset in a different port. That caused the entire system to become very unresponsive and the logs we’re not helping at all. Maybe you left a bad USB plugged in from something? Probably not but it’s free to check.
You should look in dmesg, it’s always a mess but maybe your issue appears there.

themoonisacheese@sh.itjust.workstoLemmy Support@lemmy.ml•What does "ban" mean if I'm posting to another instance? (I'm using photon)7·4 months agoYou would ban bob’s post from being shown on your instance’s copy of the federated community.
This happened recently, where a prolific user on !noncredibledefence was instance banned on blahaj.zone. if you visited !noncredibledefence@shit.just.works from blahaj.zone, none of his posts would be shown, but they were otherwise visible on other instances. I suspect in the case you’re talking about, it would only apply to the community on question and bob’s posts in other communities would be unaffected.
themoonisacheese@sh.itjust.worksto ActivityPub@lemmy.ml•Is it possible to use an ip address with ap?1·4 months agoI’m pretty sure most browsers will straight up refuse to load content from bare IPv6 adresses regardless of cert status no? I remember having problems with this with an internal CA.
themoonisacheese@sh.itjust.worksto ActivityPub@lemmy.ml•Is it possible to use an ip address with ap?2·4 months agoSo you need to own and operate your own ASN. I guess that’s better than what I thought but it’s nowhere near attainable for regular people.

You’d be surprised at the speeds you can get on poor wifi when you don’t care about latency. The average speed marching up with your download is a dead giveaway too. The fact that maximum over 5 minutes exceeds it is a bit weird, but it could be explained by some networking equipment in the middle (probably at your ISP if I was to guess) terminating MTUs for whatever reason. A common one is misconfiguring various solutions for capping internet speeds to subscribers, where your local MTU will be set correctly but the outgoing ones will be set to the maximum speed of the link.

It’s very easy to detect OS with very rudimentary fingerprinting techniques, a lot of which are blocked by the TOR browser but they can never get them all.

The only way I can see to bypass it is to obtain DRM keys and display your content on a website only if widevine is active, like Netflix does. Surely it can’t screenshot DRM protected content, but also this is Microsoft .
