The pipewire thing just needs a restart of pipewire which isn’t a huge problem.
I’m not I just run 128 GB RAM in 4 dimms on Ryzen7000 which is tricky to get running at a reasonable speed and doesn’t always restart right so I’m reticent to restart
It semi reliably kills pipewire and some sometimes USB drives won’t mount after a kernel update if I don’t restart.

As much as people around here rage at AI usage one thing it is very very good at is speeding up efficiency work like this. Building test harnesses and synthesizing the output from a number of profiling tools is made much much faster with the use of large language models.
Weird they were not using jemalloc to begin with. It’s basically the default go to allocator for everything I do unless there is some specific use case that requires a different one.

Part of c/cpp problem is it’s build system and dependency story just serves to get in my way instead of letting me write code. The syntax is irrelevant when I’m fucking with some auto conf script because the version on my machine is 0.01 versions different.

That’s the main problem Firefox has. They are trying to appeal to a wide audience but their core users would never let them do anything that might do that. Then the core users sit there and wonder why Mozilla struggles and demand they work exclusively on the browser, an endeavor well known to not be profitable.
The average user doesn’t give a shit about privacy either as evidenced by the state of the current Internet.
The real issue and what those AI dependent companies are banking on is that they can capture a user base and when OpenAI starts to reach the end of the road with LLM improvements and moves to the extract phase it can buy these little companies to ingest their user base.
Everyone else in that space will be instantly fucked since they will now be competing directly with openai while paying their margin but that’s the bet they are making.

Yeah. The memory controllers in the DDR5 ryzens just can’t handle 4 sticks of 32. The recommendation is 2 x 48gb but with RAM prices the way they are I’m probably going to stick with the 4 32s since that is what I have.
