I browse Reddit only for one sub, a country-specific one that is reasonably niche. Right when the API migration happened, there seemed to be a very visible migration of Facebook/Instagram people migrating over to Reddit. Posts asking where to find Instagram/Facebook functionality came in daily, and the overall quality of both comments and posts degraded a lot, suddenly posts had a ton of comments with one word and a ton of emojis.

So if I understand correctly, the reason it’s outdated is not because we don’t need those pesky banking regulations any more, but that it has been found that banks will just take out their own loans to cover the reserves they need from the central bank, so they can just lend as much as they want, no seatbelts. And the central bank will never run out of loans to give, since they have insane reserves, in their own currency it is technically unlimited.

So money is not really the thing we think it is. If banks overextend themselves and fuck up, the only thing we’ll see instead of failing banks is runaway inflation in the consumer and asset (housing) markets. Wonder where I’ve seen that.

Bank spokesman says they are itching to be the sector to fire the most workers, poised to make the economy so much better.

It’s kinda fucked up that each major political camp denies some genocide. Like we could replace who you vote for with which genocide was a shamocide?

F-Droid could go through it, the thing that is prohibited is for Google to bar them just because they are a competitor.

On one side, what the fuck, that’s not how it’s supposed to work. On the other side, at least precedent doesn’t mean much in the EU.

Well technically GDPR applies, but who knows if any cars are actually compliant.

The ability for a car to call emergency services in the event of a crash, and thus the mobile / data connection required to do that, has been mandatory since 2018 in all new cars sold in the EU.

So there is no cost incentive not to have the internet connection in there, as it is a basic safety feature now, like seatbelts.

Yes, most cars have had their own data connection for a while now. If I know correctly, it’s a requirement for Europe since you have to put that button to call emergency services in the car, so it has to have a GSM module, so effectively it has to have mobile data.

On the one hand, I can imagine the family gatherings.

“Why did you block Uncle Pete?”

“He has been viewing my page every 2AM, there is no way he isn’t beating his meat to all the beach pictures I post of my kids!”

On the other hand, Facebook likes engagement, even the weirdo meat-beating kind. It makes them money.

Imagine the creepiness level when as a woman you get a ton of page view notifications every day at 2AM. Some of them from coworkers. Some from family members.

Some things are best left unknown.

No mods, on my first clean install, all the Automaton voice lines were missing, so the robots were mute. I did a reinstall, that fixed it, so I only had the rest of the “normal” bugs.

My favourite bug someone just found is that if you build stuff in any of the indoor settlements, like Vault 88, it breaks pathing in subtle ways everywhere. If you put down something, it marks the coordinates in that indoor cell for NPCs to walk around, so that they don’t try to walk over beds and such. The problem is that it actually marks those same coordinates in all cells everywhere, so the bed shaped “no-go zone” is there in every single interior in seemingly random places. That means, the more you build in these places, the less NPCs can walk in indoor cells, and they might get randomly stuck.

BTW the immersion breaking thing for me is that I’ve always hated that unlike previous Fallout games, or like all games ever, when you holster a weapon, it just disappears into thin air instead of being holstered in some way. There is a simple mod that fixes that, but it got broken by the next gen update, which also broke F4SE. So now I wait and play sg else.

I tried and failed to dust off Fallout 4. Got hit by bugs, and some of my mods that fix immersion breaking (for me) stuff don’t work either, so I’ll wait.

Starfield still has no mod kit either.
