what kind of an idiot wrote this… oh… i did
fb will be doing things at such a massive scale that this would be too much work
did you select the language? that’s what happened to me. had to actually select the language when commenting
i dunno, there’s over 8 billion people in the world and bazillions of comments daily. I’d be surprised if two people didn’t have similar comments all the time
there was that one time when the following happened all one after the other
none of these 4 things have ever happened since and certainly not more than 1 at a time. having all 4 in one day must have triggered someone inside me to break
I see you didn’t take issue with the first part of my argument and only chose the easier, kinda jokey part
but that’s exactly how the models are being trained. by manually going through all the images and describing them.
and you can’t really complain that computers go through data at a greater scale than humans… that’s the whole point. that argument doesn’t hold
artists who don’t like this are no longer allowed to look at previous artist’s works before making their own. fan fiction is certainly not allowed.
I think the servers don’t know what to do when ads outnumber content 36 to 1
oh right, that’s a big one there. that images stay on the origin instance and they linked from there
it’s my understanding that you won’t make a full copy of everything. you’ll only copy the communities that are added and you won’t be copying the full history.
I’m unsure how far back it goes but it might be just the one day. i saw talk of changing it to go back as far as someone actually scrolled and pressed next but that was just an idea at this point.
hmm. i dunno if you can but it would make a lot more sense to do it that way. seeing Lemmy stuff on mastodon sucks because comments are individual and don’t make sense out of context.

tldr, it’s actually more private than Reddit in most ways
popularity is actually the solution to this specific problem. as things get more popular they will have been loaded up already.
you’re only able to have this issue at all because it’s new

this is like the third time today I’ve added this to a post. great memories
“but they take all the risk, they deserve the reward”
what risk? the only thing they risk is becoming one of us if they fail hard enough and have to go get a regular job
