  • Yes there is. I’d probably never have found out about variant Sudoku without Cracking the Cryptic. I get valuable rock climbing tips from professional climbers and coaches on YouTube and employ them often successfully in the climbing gym. I learn about weird weapons from that blacksmith guy that i can use in my TTRPGs and that’s not even taking about the science channels.

Of course if you don’t curate your subscribed channels and just browse home it’s probably gonna suck and be full of clickbait

  • Trackmania. It’s one of my favourite games from my childhood but it being Ubisoft destroyed the whole thing for me. First the version I was playing didn’t really work anymore and i got the version after. Then somehow i had license troubles, so switched to trackmania forever which has a horrendous main menu design and now the new cool shit and activity is all on the newest version which has a subscription model and it automatically connects to a Ubisoft Account I don’t have access to. I think because i have Linux it automatically skips their launcher so i can’t switch accounts. Also I dislike Ubisoft in general and the new one is the first time I noticed it even being a Ubisoft Game. Sorry for the rant

  • It is no one’s business yet people make it their business. If OP gets fired because they get seen giving their partner a kiss or a neighbour outs them then, suddenly their identity is an issue at work. Just because OP has not been outed involuntarily yet, doesn’t mean it won’t affect them in the future. And if OP, for fear of getting fired, is keeping their identity a secret, it is actively affecting them. If a gay dude says to their co-worker “my partner made that cake” instead of “my boyfriend made that cake” because mentioning a boyfriend is a risk to their work it is affecting them.

  • The Priory of the Orange Tree might fit what you are looking for. I’ve only learned the term soft magic just now so I might be wrong but magic in that world is mysterious and feels similar to Lord of the Rings. However there’s multiple types of magic and one of the main characters understands a bit more about one of those types and thus knows a bit about its limitations iirc so we as the reader are introduced to those a bit. Overall I’d say it probably fits.

  • There’s a reason why in my comment i talked about LLMs as bad while saying AI in general has it’s uses. The reason being this post being about LLMs.

I know very well that specialized AI has a lot of uses in medical science and other fields but that’s not really what got hit with all the hype, is it? The hype is managers saw a language model give seemingly better answers to questions than John Rando from 2 blocks down the road so they’re now looking to cut out all the already low paid workers and spoiler alert we will not land in a society where the general public profits from not having work. It will be the same owners of capital profiting as per usual.
