  • I understand being frustrated with f2p shenanigans and microtransactions, but I think that frustration is blinding you to some of the bigger picture issues at play. I agree that microtransactions are a problem, but honestly fps games are one of the few genres where I would say a f2p and live-service model actually makes the most sense.

Before the prevalence of battle passes most games followed the CoD model where a new game would be released every year or two and you would be forced to buy it because the player population of the older game would die off drastically. With live-service it allows the dev to still update games and gives players a reason to keep coming back every season to keep playing a game. An fps game is only as healthy as how large and diverse in terms of skill range its player population has.

I’m also excited for Deadlock though. It will hopefully keep doing everything right that Battleborne failed at and looks really fun.

  • I’ve tried Google’s suggestion of water/vinegar and a bit of dish soap in a bottle, but they don’t seem to go for it at all.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I always thought this method was only geared for fruit flies, not houseflys.

Flypaper strips can be effective depending on the severity and location of the issue and are fairly cheap. It won’t be 100% effective, but it might help. Just be very careful about where you place it if you have any pets or children.

on a large scale doesn’t this mostly protect people from dangerous debts?

Not really. It just ends up with lenders offering far more predatory interest rates, which worsens the situation for the debtor. The system is set up in such a way that you can spiral pretty hard with a single misstep.

I go to great lengths to not use Amazon but in the US, unless you live in a large urban area Amazon and Walmart have systematically run most smaller, neighborhood retailers out of business already. If I wanted to go to a bookstore that wasn’t a Barnes and Noble, I would need to drive about an hour and a half.

  • I had been working my way through a first playthrough of Dark Souls 1. I finally managed to snag it in a Steam sale so I can now officially do a full series playthrough. I’m no stranger to the soulslike genre and found a lucky +5 Black Knight Sword very early on so it’s been a fairly easy run so far, aside from the early souls jankiness which took some getting used to again. I got stuck on Manus and decided to take a break so I’m hoping to get back in and finish tying up loose ends before heading to finish off Gwyn.

I’ve always wished that Souls games had a sliding New Game plus system where I could start a playthrough at like NG+2 or something because NG is generally too easy, but I’m not usually one to do NG+ in general. Once I beat a game once I’m done with it for years usually

Life hasn’t been great recently so I’ve mostly been playing more mindless games where I can have fun and drink beer. Mostly Helldivers 2 and Chivalry 2, maybe Dead Cells or Risk of Rain 2 if I’m in a rougelite kind of mood.

  • Yeah and the Dratini line was the only dragon type in gen 1 and was supposed to be very powerful and psudo-legendary.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they decided against giving Gyarados the dragon type because of that specific lore reason as it’s never made a whole lot of sense to me that it had the flying type either. I think Gyarados would be too strong both offensively and defensively if it didn’t have the quad elec weakness which is probably why it’s the way it is. (Disclaimer: I know nothing of Pokemon beyond gen4 and feel free to disregard my opinions)
