Don’t do this if you live 30 miles or more from your job though. In that case get the cheapest most reliable hunk of junk you can find.

Windows does so much crap in the background that you and I don’t need want or care about, and Linux just does what it’s told when it’s told. Give it a try if you’re feeling adventurous.

It’s possible you have dealt with more than your fair share of sarcastic passive aggressive people in your life so far. Most people give a 👍🏼 as a confirmation, like “OK”. Its especially common when someone is bust, like if they’re driving or in a meeting, or trying to think.

This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion, but here it is anyway. If it doesn’t come off with dish detergent and a scrub sponge, just call it a permanent seasoning and let it be. If scrubbing it like mad won’t make it come off, then it won’t come off if your food touches it.
Tony N@lemmy.mlto Linux@lemmy.ml•What's a unique customization on your Linux machine you think no one else has?7·4 months agoHonestly I print out anything my little kiddo does at school on his Chromebook, and some stuff has black backgrounds. I got tired of wasting toner so I made a script that would print a negative screenshot if it’s a dark image. One keystroke and I get what I want
Tony N@lemmy.mlto Linux@lemmy.ml•What's a unique customization on your Linux machine you think no one else has?401·4 months agoWhen I press Super + PrtSc, a bash script performs the following:
Takes a screenshot of the entire desktop (import -window root) and saves it as ~/screenshot.png…
Analyzes the screenshot to calculate the “mean brightness” value of the image. It converts the image to grayscale and determines the average pixel brightness (a value between 0 and 1, where 0 is black and 1 is white).
Checks if the image is dark by comparing the mean brightness to a threshold of 0.2. If the mean brightness is less than 0.2 (i.e., the image is very dark), it applies a negative filter to the image (convert -negate), effectively inverting the colors (black becomes white and vice versa).
Sends the image to a printer (lp command) named MF741C-743C for printing.

Tony N@lemmy.mlto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why do people install expensive hardwood flooring in their kitchens, the place where you are most likely to drop food, cutlery, spill liquids, etc?142·4 months agoYou should try installing some good ole linoleum. We solved kitchen flooring in the 1860s but people need to install expensive floors that are worse in every way because… why exactly? I don’t know. I have hardwood floors that are 17 years old and they need to be replaced. Linoleum floors last as long as 40 years. I’m thinking of going old school.
That was a supremely enlightening explanation! I’m installing bluefin in a vbox to check it out and ordering a new SSD. Thank you!
Thank you very much for the recommendations! Out of curiosity, what are the benefits of using say bluefin over just plain fedora? I should also add that I prefer a long term support installation because I don’t reinstall very often. Thanks again

After the Ender 3 Pro, I got a Bambu X1 Carbon. I have been running it for over a year now and it just makes whatever I send to it. The few times it has needed my attention, the instructions were clear and easy to follow.
