  • I appreciate the reply but I cannot stand those moldable ones that are like ramming a lump of blu-tack into your ears xD I find the opposite to be true that they don’t provide as much sound insulation and they end up falling out due to the movement of your body as you work. At least that is my experience with them.

The foam ones I do use tend to be of slightly higher quality and for the most part I don’t find them irritable apart from every now and then when they cause me some pain as I mentioned before. 85 % of the time they are good though and will stay in place for 8 hours plus without me having to fuck around.

Generally I’m happy with the foam ones I get through work, it is just that 15% of the time when they can cause me some pain that I would like to alleviate.

I have also tried the silicone ear plugs that are sort of ribbed with a more solid centre to them that are sort of a middle ground between the foam and moldable silly putty ones but they are the most irritable of them all as well as not staying put either so would not recommend them to anyone!

  • Interesting to read, I work with industrial machines and wear generic foam type ones for 8+ hours a day Mon to Fri and will often wear the same ones when I’m out and about to drown out the noise of society too. I dont mind them for the most part as I’m so used to them however every other month it was cause my ear canal to be quite painful for about a week.

I have always considered them but never wanted to pay the price.

Do you have recommendations of brands or companies I can look into for a decent set? I’m in the UK

  • If you like Sanderson then I think you’ll enjoy The Foundryside books by Robert Jackson Bennett, a great trilogy.

The Infinite timeline series of books by Jeremy Robinson is pretty great. I have 4 books left and in my opinion the first book “Infinite” is the worst so far (although not bad). As a series however it keeps expanding, to begin with there are only small references connecting the books and the universe but as the series goes on there are more and more connections as different stories begin unravelling and connecting with each other. I definitely think it is worth it and as I read each new book it becomes more compelling as you learn more links.

The Deathstalker books by Simon R Green are a great Sci Fi / Space Opera that takes you on a wild, sometimes outrageous journey but ultimately brings the story back around to an ending that I didn’t really expect and was really fun!

  • Mushroomhead at a small venue were amazing, I’ve been to the venue so many times and never seen anyone do anything interesting but they were there were impressive lighting and water on the drums that was flying everywhere catching the light. Was great.

Sub Focus and Chase & Status in a tiny little venue (Chinese Laundry in Sydney) that was like a little grotto. Ceiling so low I couldn’t even stretch my arms up straight with sweet raining on everyone. Amazing.

Die Antwoord with a load of acid in my system was pretty intense.

Finally the entire Shambhala festival in Canada. The DJ playing obviously increases enjoyment but the stages are so fucking mind blowing that it is without a doubt the best live music experience I have had!

  • Keytwo is my all time favourite phone, ive not found something that is as good as it was, so I’d be interested in if you have any success with this.

Others phones with keyboard you could look into are Unihertz titan and titan slim. I owned a titan and it was a pretty good phone although somewhat large, I know there is a small community of people doing things with it but I could never get my bootloader to unlock.

The titan slim is a copy of the keytwo form factor and I have been very tempted but never got around to trying one out.

Fx tec pro also exists but they seem over priced and out dated, not sure on how receptive they are to new ROMs or if there is even a community behind this one.

I’m going to be watching This project going forward and if it seems decent may try switching to using a data sim in a hotspot box in my bag and just use this as a primary device.

  • Journey - This game brought me to a sort of Zen, it is calm and peaceful and was just a wonderful experience that didn’t out stay its welcome. By the end of it I just felt like I had had a nice uplifting experience.

Fallout games - Yeh this may not seem like an uplifting game experience for most people and I would generally agree but on a personal level I do find them uplifting by the end of them for the following reason. I have always picked up the modern fallout games when I have been quitting one substance or another in the past. There is something about the desolation of the people and the environment within those games with mirrors the desolation I felt withing myself at these times in my life. Working through the stories draws me in and helps me forget about whatever it is my body is telling me I “need” even if it is only for a few hours at a time. Multiple times though these games have helped me get through those feelings and so therefore for me they have a certain uplifting quality, like a weird unexpected safe space.
