Try and flip the fantasies on their head.
Try looking for odd quirks and mannerisms that bother you and imagine how annoying it would be to be with a partner that does those things all the time.
Look for the particular ways they want to be cared for in the manner and how you would not be suitable to meet them, and that they might be happier with someone else.
Also just spend more time with them, and the infatuation will either fade or you’ll realize you do really like them, which is OK, let them know, and it’s OK if it’s not reciprocal (though this is actually quite hard as a lot of women are conditioned to not believe men who say this).

I mean the books are great too, apparently they’re even better in it’s native language.

I said that it wouldn’t be good for streaming apps, like Netflix, and the previous comment was asking about Plex specifically.
magiccupcake@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.ml•Google is ready to fill free streaming TV channels with ads3·1 year agoNot for the shield, but there’s a Chinese device, Ugoos am6b+, that you can install coreelec on.
Coreelec is a linux os designed to run kodi, add a plex add on and it can play almost anything.
Any dolby vision profile, including the one that can usually only be played on bluray players. Any audio including TrueHD, dolby atmos, and DTS.
Sucks for streaming apps sadly, so you’d have to get another device like Apple TV or something.

It’s currently my favorite, but when I was a kid I liked strawberry preserves.
magiccupcake@lemmy.worldto Green - An environmentalist community @lemmy.ml•Is the genetically modified, nutrient-rich Golden Rice as safe as promised?13·2 years agoIts a little strange to think about, but there’s nothing ‘natural’ about modern crops.
For millenia selective breeding was used to get desired traits, with who knows how many other mutations along the way.
More recently radiation has been used to induce mutations in crops to wider diversity.
GMOs are just the next step in more precisely editing a plants genome with only the changes we want.
Now the corpations making them like Monsanto can get fucked, they should still be treated like every other plant. If you have seeds you should be able to plant them.
Buy a object like a lamp that has 3 prongs and exposed metal. Before you pet your dog touch the lamp. 3 prongs so thats it’s grounded.
Also when you touch your dog for the first time touch him on his body with you whole hand at once, it’ll spread the shock over a larger area and be less painful.

Music isnt that hard to stream (compared to video), so a bunch of people using their home hardware to transfer data will be much less efficient than an industrial size datacenter.
magiccupcake@lemmy.worldto funkwhale@lemmy.ml•Old news, but streaming is possibly worse for the environment than physical media was in its heyday. Can we help mitigate that?2·2 years agoI’m very skeptical of the calculations used to derive these results.
The media loves to overestimate the carbon footprint of streaming.

No it doesn’t, so that’s why I didn’t speculate on the cause. But the statistics don’t lie, and you’d be a fool for assuming you’d be the exception.
As for speculation, guns are tools of escalation. Pulling a gun on robber while half asleep can turn a robbery into a homicide. Not to mention all the stories of people who shoot at intruders who turn out to be police from a no knock warrant and inevitably kill someone.
But it doesn’t matter what the cause for it really is in the end. Owning guns don’t make you safe.
