  • Hello! I’m Québécois and as such happily defy all Canadian obligations. The USA gave the elections to the liberals by threatening Canada’s sovereignty. This is because the Conservatives favour the prairies, where there is a strong pro USA sentiment. Alberta’s PM Danielle Smith reminded everybody of that by conniving at Mar-a-Lago while the other provinces were trying hard to show a united front. In the meanwhile Conservative Leader Poilievre took forever to address the issue since he knew part of his base actually wants to be ’murican.

So by now Carney is PM for sure, but it’s not been called yet if it’ll be a minority or majority. I’m not excited about having a paragon of neoliberalism as federal leader (still better than Poilievre *sigh*) so I’m hoping for a minority.

  • Good on you for owning up and best of luck. You did well being transparent about your process. I’m going to add two things about generative AI:

    • Writing is thinking. If you’re interested in thinking, then be all means do it yourself. You don’t need to have perfect grammar, syntax and such. Lots of extraordinary authors don’t. Strive for improvement, don’t worry about perfection.
    • Absolutely beware of generative AI’s biases. They may actually amplify their sources’ biases while occluding them. AI text is just rehashed human text, with all that it entails.

  • I’m not going to read in detail a text you can’t be assed to write in detail. From a glean I’ll say two things:

    • Your alternative voices are basically all privileged white guys commenting carefully from the sidelines. How is that a counterbalance to Chinese activists literally disappearing? You know what it means to disappear in China, right?
    • The common thread of your text is one massive, obvious false dilemma. It’s common knowledge that China is under a repressive regime, that the POTUS gives clear signals of envying such regimes, AND that democracy has issues. We can and do talk about all of them.

  • Me and my son have a history with Pokemon. It’s a franchise close to our hearts, but we’re both disappointed with everything that happened on the switch. I’ll always remember taking him to the anime convention to battle with the local gym champions. Just watched the Z-A trailer and it’s depressing really. The last entries’ artistic direction is utterly lifeless and the gameplay feels stale, despite the revolving door of gimmicks from gen to gen. I’m still hoping, one day, we get a fucking good Pokemon game though.
