I speak English, I studied Latin but have not kept up, and I know a tiny bit of Japanese and French.

drislands@lemmy.worldto Privacy@lemmy.ml•I live in the PNW. Every election cycle I get massive amounts of Arizona conservative text spam. How do I make it stop?13·11 months agoThis is not remotely helpful.

It doesn’t help that welfare does actually work this way.
I don’t know the actual figures but my understanding is government assistance tends to work along the lines of “if you make less than $300, then the government gives you $100” so getting paid $350 is actually worse than being paid $290 for example, since going over the threshold cuts off the welfare completely.
And it’s so ridiculously good. The NYT even wrote an article about it.
drislands@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•Is it possible to use Linux without the command line?71·1 year agoMost users of Windows aren’t editing the registry, no matter what problems they encounter.
For power users that do use regedit, I’d argue there’s still a gap between that and using a shell. The registry can be edited entirely with the Windows graphical utility, after all.

Nah man, I’m pretty sure the Tiananmen square massacre was a bigger crime. Not to mention their genocide of the Uighur people, their oppression of Hong Kong, their attempts to steal Taiwan’s sovereignty.
ETA: big thanks to OP for so clearly and concisely showing they’re a tankie.
drislands@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is a gender neutral replacement for man, guys, buddy, etc?41·1 year agoPal, bud, friendo, sport, tiger, chief, boss.
(Note: There are some dumb stories floating out there about Reddit CEO Steve Huffman getting paid $193 million last year. You can ignore those in general since they are really about stock and options awards with a long vesting period. And you can specifically ignore them for this story since those costs aren’t included in the R&D totals.)
From the article. Reddit wants you to believe it had $193m to throw at the CEO, to imply they are great at making money. The more people spread this lie the more reddit wins.

According to OP it hasn’t been released yet.
drislands@lemmy.worldto Gaming@lemmy.ml•Capcom adds new DRM to old PC games, raising worries over mods7·1 year agoI don’t disagree. But the inciting incident was when an official Street Fighter tournament went awry when the person hosting left on a nude Chun Li mod. I imagine they’re specifically trying to prevent that from happening ever again.
drislands@lemmy.worldto Gaming@lemmy.ml•Capcom adds new DRM to old PC games, raising worries over mods12·1 year agoThey’re not worried about pirates, they’re worried about nude mods. It’s still idiotic, but it is consistent.
drislands@lemmy.worldto Privacy@lemmy.ml•How do I prevent others random device suggestions in Public Areas?41·1 year agoOP literally said in the post that they have their own headphones paired. Disabling Bluetooth is an unhelpful suggestion, hence the downvotes.
