There are definitely some like that. The American system has a number of tricks to try to force people to do what they like as well though. Poverty, over policing of minorities, lack of social safety nets etc can cause people who grew up barely avoiding prison choosing military thinking the only choices they have are death or military, shoved at them when they’re too young to really know the world. Add education that specifically avoids or lies about what US actually does overseas, plus a bunch of jingoistic propaganda making being a soldier appear to be a respectable profession.
I grew up in a cult that avoided military so I never had those feelings myself, so I got to watch it from the outside, and even the pledge of allegiance every morning was weird jingoistic programming from early ages. It can be difficult to see past that at 17. I’m not saying they don’t deserve any punishment, but I do disagree with the idea that every single one wanted to kill people.
Or in the case of Destiny and FFXIV:
Yeah, but if you want more people to talk about it with you should link it anyway, so others can try it out.
I can’t tell my hours, because I left it open while doing other stuff, and overnight etc. Same with Ark. Both have 8k+ hourly, but FFXIV has more (but isn’t in steam for me).
The US always tries to do what they think others are doing. Half of their crazy ideas are because they heard a rumor and/or assumed the Soviets were doing it. Mind control, truth serums, ESP, cat spies.
People like these? I do em all the time but always feel I’m overexplaining.
Only if they get caught. Looking at you VW.
It’s not octopuses that octopodes corrects, it’s octopi. Octopi is a Latin pluralization, and since the word is Greek and us to i isn’t specifically American, I agree with you that octopuses is fine but not that octopi is fine.
Your original comment could be taken in various tones and they wanted a clarification. For what it’s worth, it is useful to some to hear it, since it could help people see differences between the US and other countries. It’s just said in a way that felt more like “Butchers don’t do this” rather than “As the contrast, I don’t see this done in my country”. Either way though, in the spirit of the question it is sorta off topic.
It’s like asking “Why does this currency have this person on it?” and getting the answer “I’ve never seen that currency used anywhere I lived.” While true, it’s not really relevant, doesn’t answer the question, and can either be taken as a long winded way to say “I don’t know” or stubborn self centered everything worth knowing is centered around your own experiences. Which is definitely reading into it too much, but there are people who act like that, either as trolls or real jingoists.
Nah. My name starts with Chat that is pronounced Shat. I grew up with my name being joked at being equated to shit by immature people. It’s easy to get over. Every chat someone types out or references is not me. Same with every shit or shat. People need to get over themselves.
I do like pretending everytime someone asks “Chat, is this blah?” that they’re talking to me, but only as a joke. I’m in no way personally offended.
Narrator: it wasn’t.
… you piece of shit.
What if mine was given to me by a watery tart?
Well, it’s probably true. Although easier to confirm sometimes, information across the internet still is often a big game of telephone. Some people treat internet info like UDP and just accept what they get, some people are TCP and will fact check before accepting it.
This person probably did just hear it from a buddy.
Most survival builders that use natural resources. I’d see flowers I think I should gather, or trees I could chop down for wood, etc
Nah, the way Microsoft and Edge work still enrages me. I just use both Chrome and Firefox atm, with Chrome behind my VPN and Firefox split tunneled. I’m still on 10, but when I have the freedom to do so I’m going to switch to Linux. I can’t just up and do it at the moment because I work through my computer and also game through it, so I need to have a ton of things ensured workable before I switch. That requires time and testing, and in an ideal environment a second system to run in parallel, which I cannot do atm.
I’ve heard our work may be purchasing work laptops for us, so I might be able to do my switch then.
Me too, but class of 99, also 42.
Nice, I’ve been looking for one of these that worked in Windows (I know, I know, but I don’t have time to redo everything if I switched atm).
I’m not a programmer; at best I script.
