I love those descriptions. It conveys such a feeling in me. Like one of those really nice days where the windows are open and you’ve had a nice day but still have energy to treat yourself and enjoy the evening. I’m a fan.

I had to turn it off to check the tracking on a package from USPS yesterday. Any time a website is sending me to a broken page, I turn off my vpn and it works immediately.
I was going to ask because I’m somewhat new to vpns, but I just assumed it was one hassle for privacy. Is this a new occurrence?
I mean, I know everyone says it’s impossible for phones to be listening, but I feel like there are just too many examples for that to be the case. My friend was looking for something for our other friends birthday. Her husband suggested opening instagram and talking about the thing she was looking for, describing the specific jacket, saying the company started with an “A.” Minutes later, she got the ad for the jacket she was looking for.
When I was driving with some people from work, we were talking about daddy Yankee, and his song “gasolina.” We were using maps to navigate home from an away job. On our route, suddenly there were multiple waypoints suggested on our map, “estaciones de gasolina.” We were speaking English, the person whose phone it was doesn’t speak Spanish.
If they’re not listening, how could these things be possible?
But this one is folding their ears. That’s cat-serious.

To be fair, a cat’s food very much determines their coat’s quality. And also if you brushed your clean hair recently when you’re on a good diet, it would also look nice and shiny like this!
Or for the more casual political viewer: Judas and the Black Messiah

But…
That thumbnail. What secret is that hacker carrying in their little tummy basket? It looks like a scrumptious little bitty secret

Which permissions I mean. I have org maps but don’t use it too too often because it’s still a little unreliable for me. But I’d love to completely move to it
Is this the most recent Kingdom Come 2? I’d been thinking of getting it myself, I play great stories over and over (RDR2, Cyberpunk, Alan Wake 2). But I’ve literally played them all so much that I’m about to be tired of replaying them. So I need a new game to 100% complete, this and STALKER2 have been on my list, but S2 hasn’t been released for ps5.
I got into a long discussion with friends at work who were saying it’s silly to worry about protecting my SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER and getting upset at companies for leaking it because “if it’s gonna get out it’s gonna.” Like…WHAT. How goddamn okay are you people with fighting to prove you’re you and not the person who stole your identity? The fuck. For real.

I will say, as a 30 year old man I had the urge to start playing games because they just looked so good these days. I played a little here and there growing up, but all of my friends were gamers and I just wasn’t interested. When I got interested, I found a lot of fun and joy in it.
I’m still not your typical gamer. I find a few games I really love and I keep playing them over and over—great campaigns with great story telling and great characters and great graphics are so much of it. Since I started playing video games in like 2020, I’ve basically played four games, but two of them I’ve played a bunch of times (red dead redemption II and Cyberpunk).
Now I’m looking at Stalker 2 and I think that might be my next game I want to play to death. Gotta wait to hear how people feel about it though.
Yup. I was driving in the car with a few people for work. We were talking about a music video a couple of us had worked on, and we were explaining who daddy yankee/bad bunny was, and we mentioned daddy yankee did the song “gasolina.”
We live in the US, the conversation was in English, but fuck if “estacion de gasolina” didn’t show up on our route.

But I think the best story ever told through a video game is RDR2. But those are my two favorite games, so you really can’t go wrong either way.
TheFriar@lemm.eeto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is an extremely wholesome fact that could help brighten someone's day?183·7 months agoI don’t think that’s actually true. Have the metrics for what we consider poverty changed and adapted with inflation and the perfecting of corporate wealth hoarding? “Poverty” is an ambiguous term, and relative poverty is real. That doesn’t show in a standard-line “poverty” metric. What was considered “extreme poverty” is the lowest, but that’s people living on under $1.90/day. I couldn’t even find information on that metric being updated to reflect the current high inflation and profit-explosion landscape.
Also: if you technically pull people out of poverty by outsourcing to the lowest paying, least labor regulated parts of the world, is the fact that extreme poverty went away in those areas even a good thing?

You ever read any Bolaño? Sounds like you wouldn’t enjoy it whatsoever, a lot of his characters go on and on about poets.
