One thing I kind of like about monster hunter is you don’t need to commit to the long term, a hunt will last at most 50 minutes usually closer to 25 or less. You can boot the game up do a hunt and shutdown, and still feel like you did something in it.

For the ez mode loot it’s to allow players to get to the expansion content quickly if they want to, otherwise yeah just don’t touch the initial high powered loot you got gifted.

Always a good time until your repo mirror hasn’t fully synced everything so you get updated Nvidia driver but an older kernel so your video drivers don’t load.
That was a fun hour until I commented out a few mirrors and tried a different one.

Strykker@programming.devto Open Source@lemmy.ml•Interesting OSS project: Holesail creates instant P2P tunnels between networks (like a VPN)5·11 months agoWhy are you even mentioning matrix? We don’t want a chat server corpo or not, we want a real functional forum with topics and history and indexed by search engines, not a single chat log that disappears into the void after 24 hours of use.
The only advantage to a canoe is it’s slightly drier than the water and slightly less sandy than the beach.
Literally all of them, but look at OpenSSL for a good example.
Literally everything runs off it these days, and it’s like 3 guys and a trenchcoat working on it most of the time.
It’s just how open source / the industry / people are. We all have our own stuff we want to do, so as long as the stuff your using works you don’t tend to care, and if it doesn’t you often don’t have the time or resources to do anything other than tell the owner to fix it.
No because it came off of over a decade of research, the mRNA vaccine delivery had been in development for years, COVID is also a type of virus related to other viruses they had developed or were developing vaccines for.
This was not some weekend project dumped out with no thought.
It’s not odd at all that people are willing to take the vaccines. Hundreds of doctors and scientists have been involved in the process of determining how viruses work, how the body fights them how we can use that to improve the bodies response and then how to safely package that for delivery to every person in the country.
There is no blind faith here except for that of doubters, just literal thousands of hours of dedication and science.
Go lookup CANDU reactors, we have designs already that can’t steam explode themselves and instead will fail safe. Also just to be clear nuclear reactors don’t perform a nuclear explosion if they fail, the Chernobyl explosion was a steam explosion that threw nuclear material into the air.
Strykker@programming.devto Programmer Humor@lemmy.ml•Can't bear to review one more PR today15·1 year agoAnd then you have a great big fuck off stack of documentation you can slap in their face with proof that it’s someone else’s problem.
Unless you aren’t actually pinging all the people you say you are.
Except the C++ “Core dumped” line is telling you it just wrote a file out with the full state of the program at the time of the crash, you can load it up and see where it crashed and then go and look at what every local variable was at the time of the crash.
Pretty sure you can even step backwards in time with a good debugger to find out exactly how you got to the state you’re currently in.

Strykker@programming.devto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•In the USA, can you lose your home even after it is 100% paid off?2·1 year agoThey aren’t saying the us government can take land in like France whenever. But like Canada has expropriation laws available where if needed Canadian land can be seized from the land owner, usually with compensation.
This is often done for things like infrastructure, highways and such. Turns it from needing the owner to be willing to sell into “we are buying this land now, heres what we think the land was worth”
But it’s still dirt fucking cheap to produce.
The expensive parts of fibre are the transmitters/receivers at each end and the labour to splice/terminate it properly.
When you are competing for customers not providing the illiterate morons of the world a simple UI leads to them going to your competitor which does.
And unfortunately those illiterate morons outnumber every one else by a significant chunk.
This isn’t about that though. This is advertiser’s going “we don’t want to advertise on X because Elon promotes content we don’t agree with” and then Elon freaking out because much free speech. Even though no one is blocking or removing what he says, they just no longer want to be associated with it.
If your getting looped by turnstile maybe you need to stop being a bot?
Literally never had an issue with it.
