So she says let’s go do 14k which of course sounded nuts, so we went and did that. Next thing I know I finished a marathon because why not…

My guess would be an online connectivity check. Most systems try and reach some domain to say if they have network or not. Would be a logical place for them to try.

TOR is just slightly harder to keep up on as far as being listed on the same tables as commercial VPN hosts because it’s so dynamic. Anyone can spin up a node and be a relay or, for the brave/foolish, an exit node in a few minutes.

Privacy largely comes from a plausible deniability in that the person asking for a site could be the originator or they could just be relaying a request for the originator. Freenet, or now called hypha net is similar that way.

My perspective on internet privacy has long been that while I don’t expect to be a ghost, I can make the picture as muddy as I can to make whatever profile they gather be as useless as possible.

From the infosec practitioner perspective the number of bad actors coming from public VPN pops is exceptionally high compared to any other random IP, so they get put on a naughty list. We often cut out entire countries just because they have such a high ratio of bad 2 good traffic, particularly if it’s a country that we have no real expectation of user traffic originating from.

It’s not so much a VPN bad, but just that you’re hanging out with others that act bad. Kind of the Nazi bar thing but for hackers. If you set up a private VPN somehow on a random cloud host you likely wouldn’t see the same issues, how to keep the ownership anonymous though is another problem.

Now maybe they didn’t say ‘go out in the world and hunt down people of the Jewish faith across the globe for eradication’ but when you say ‘All Israelis’ and unless I’m mistaken the principal population of the state there is ethnic Jews, then it’s not a big step. When you have a mandatory conscription state, and you say kill all the people who served in the military of said state (they are all valid military targets) then you are advocating for the ethnic cleansing of a population.

You know, hexbear is really a fine example of what you get when the auth right tries to do a parody version of leftists.

It got people to talk about it and take interest in what is going on. There are undoubtedly some portion of the population that are fully oblivious of the world around them, or just indifferent at least, but someone going on for that long has to make them wonder why he would do that.

Stop selling disposable vapes, this is not complicated. I’ve since stopped but first encountered vapes back when they called it e-smoking and the devices where really crude. After a few years they finally got something decently reliable and reusable down and people had their personal device.

I’m not even sure when disposables became a thing but the notion of use one and discard electronics is nuts. The whole industry could do well to come up with some standards so you don’t have to search out some specific model of atomizer to fit a certain piece, but it’s not impossible.
