You can use pain to train, there are just typically better ways. Shock collars do exactly this. Positive reinforcement is the best way but sometimes a shock collar is necessary for immediate intervention.
The truth is that hurting for training should never be a primary means.

According to ProPublica’s analysis of IRS records, Musk paid no federal income taxes in 2018. Between 2014 and 2018 his wealth grew by $13.9 billion, yet he paid just $455 million in federal income taxes, a rate of only 3.27%.
I actually just got told something similar. In a resume was listed, “over 10 years of leadership/management experience” and the recruiter reviewed it and said, “i don’t care. I can find 20 other people within two minutes who have 10+ years of experience. Tell me what the skills are.”
Tenure in a position means very little. Every year is a diminished return of value.
Last one I watched was Mashle. If you like Harry Potter you might enjoy this. Though it is not exactly what you’d think. Give it a couple episodes.

In quitting, I have found my real passion, and have been obsessively working on music. I’ve even released my first ever album, SPIDERWEB PRINCESS, which is filled with my darkest, most genuine feelings from all of my experiences. Nothing I’ve ever done has ever been so meaningful to me. I have so much of myself to share with the world, and I’d much rather be remembered for something I actually enjoy.”
Apparently her new passion is music. SPIDERWEB PRINCESS

What you are really saying is, “I didn’t prioritize-” and that’s OK sometimes. But be real with it. Sometimes it’s OK to prioritize other things, but when you start rephrasing it this way, you realize that you may be putting yourself, your partner, your kids, your family, in second or even third place.
That actually can be explained by the slaves that used to live in the farmhouses. They were treated as an elevated status and allowed to eat more. Think like the “aunts” for the children; caretakers.
