What the fuck? There’s…what? I played this game for a short bit and thought it was great, but I figured I got the gist of the game and never felt the urge to resume. I was still outside, so I clearly stopped before it started getting good. Fuck. I’m going back in, thank you for posting this.

kellyaster@kbin.socialto Memes@lemmy.ml•When you are privileged equality looks like a downgrade.2613·1 year agoRelated JAQing off opinion piece in The Guardian posted today: “Where are all the films about ‘whiteness’?” .
For those unfamiliar with the acronym, JAQ = “Just asking questions,” a bad faith tactic pushing an absurd narrative (e.g. “movies for white people are disappearing”) by pretending to ask innocent questions.
Direct quote, emphasis mine:
That’s why the final step towards true racial equality on screen is for whiteness to be cinematically named, described and dethroned from its “just human” position of cultural power. It’s time for white people to develop a cinema culture all of their own.
It’s riddled with white power talking points like this. This shit is really fucked up. It is irresponsible for a well-known major news source to publish shit like this, even with the “opinion” label attached. It’s basically right wing extremist (aka Nazi) recruitment propaganda.
kellyaster@kbin.socialto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are some things that Linux can't do, but Windows can?12·1 year agoI feel your pain, ugh. Setting up certain types of software can be a pain in the ass because there’s almost always dependencies that need to be set up first; in addition, it’s not always clear what you’re supposed to install or how to do it the right way. A lot of Linux-related documentation out there isn’t geared towards beginners and leaves out a lot of important explanatory and contextual information, which just makes it more frustrating. Unnecessarily, in my opinion.
However, I gotta mention that Ubuntu - though widely used - is sorta notorious for being user unfriendly and isn’t always the most appropriate choice for a beginner Linux user. If anyone reading this is thinking about trying Linux for the first time, I would consider Linux Mint. It’s a Linux distro that is actually based on Ubuntu (which is based on Debian), but it works “out of the box” better than most and should be a positive experience for most users. It’s pretty solid.
kellyaster@kbin.socialto Memes@lemmy.ml•Imagine only being allowed to upvote something?53·2 years agoThere’s a megathread on their front page right now dedicated to Joseph Stalin. Now, they’ll argue all day over semantics and adamantly state that Stalin was merely a misunderstood communist, but functionally there’s no difference between how he ran Russia compared to the shit going on in Germany and Italy at the time. The guy was a fascist dictator who murdered millions of people, including the members of the opposition he ordered to be executed. Not to mention the forced labor camps (Gulag), the censorship, government control of all media, state-authorized violence and murder…these are the things their hero did. They are in no way indicative of left wing tenets, nor are they merely anti-capitalist in nature. That shit goes way beyond hating capitalism…that is fuckin’ fascism.
kellyaster@kbin.socialto Memes@lemmy.ml•Imagine only being allowed to upvote something?126·2 years agoOh wow, the blahaj admin wants to federate with them? That is unfortunate and more than a little disappointing. I’m sorry to hear that, I hope they figure it out soon and decide not to federate, because they’d just be exposing their users to fascist recruitment propaganda that is specifically tailored to the LBGTQ+ community. JFC, that would be awful.
The Hexbears’ support for the queer community, as I’m sure you’re aware (I’m saying this to promote general awareness), is superficial at best and in reality is a major part of their recruitment machine. They operate just like extreme right wing orgs: they target a specific disenfranchised group with the claim that they hear them, support them, and will fight for their rights, but in practice they take advantage of their already-present anger by funneling it towards a specific political target…in this case, the “liberal western world.” The Hexbear ethos tells them that western values are the reason why they are being oppressed, and in the process they (somewhat ironically) become radicalized instruments of hate.
It’s fucked up and really sad, and it’s hard to get through to people just how dangerous this group is. A common defense is that the Hexbears are harmless because they think the Hexbear trolling approach is funny and that Hexbears don’t come right out and say they are pro-Russia or deny genocide is happening in the world… it can be real difficult to get people to think critically and see past the manipulation tactics. But it’s there, plain as day, it is a hate group.
But I digress. People need to know that these are not innocent good people. I will continue to speak out against these fascists, and I hope you do the same.
kellyaster@kbin.socialto Memes@lemmy.ml•Imagine only being allowed to upvote something?298·2 years agoHexbear.net (spun off from r/chapotraphouse, banned on Reddit in 2019 for fascist propaganda), has downvotes disabled on their entire instance, so that’s one. Please note that though they claim to be “leftist,” their users’ primary focus is spreading right wing propaganda via strawman and red herring tactics, usually in swarms.
That is a great movie, one of my favorite horror films from the last decade. IDK if you knew, but a sequel is in the works. They start filming next year!
I agree, sosodev. I think it would be wise to at least be aware of modern A.I.'s current capabilities and inadequacies, because honestly, you gotta know what you’re dealing with.
If you ignore and avoid A.I. outright, every new iteration will come as a complete surprise, leaving you demoralized and feeling like shit. More importantly, there will be less time for you to adapt because you’ve been ignoring it when you could’ve been observing and planning. A.I. currently does not have that advantage, OP. You do.
