highduc@lemmy.mlto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How can anyone in good faith support China and Russia161·1 month agoMan we both think the other is brainwashed, and we won’t convince each other to change our entire beliefs in one or several posts, that’d be impossible.
I just don’t get why you don’t post this in an instance more aligned with your views.
highduc@lemmy.mlto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How can anyone in good faith support China and Russia2513·1 month agoWhy do you post this spam on lemmy.ml? You are obsessed about “tankies”, China bad, the usual…
You’ll find more support for your beliefs in a more right wing place like lemmy.world.

Yeah, I know. I do try to keep that in mind though, I guess it’s not working 😅
Thanks for your perspective, I didn’t know I came across quite like that.
In my defense though, I wasn’t trying to propagandize. I may be wrong and stupid but that’s how people can be sometimes?! 🤷
And regarding personal abuse - the person called me a moron and I said they didn’t understand geopolitics - I don’t think I really abused 'em 🤔
I know you can see it, it’s no secret, but
- it’s missing to whom and to what I replied to
- lots of comments have been deleted, you can’t even see those afaik
In most cases I’d say I am not trolling nor being disingenuous. Maybe I did troll when I replied just “Orange man bad” to someone, but even then I was trying to create a bigger argument that Trump doesn’t work alone and the issue is much bigger than 1 bad guy - there’s the people around him, the party around him, etc. - and this is my genuine opinion, again, stupid or not. :/
Really? The guy who called me a moron didn’t get a ban. I was polite to him, but got one anyway 😆
What I’m getting at is, when did free speech stop applying to stupid people? (I’m assuming that’s why you think I deserve it - for being just factually incorrect, not too rude or anything?)Ok I’m wrong about stuff, I’m being stupid, but isn’t it better for others to rebut my arguments than just banning me? Like if you ban me you don’t change my mind, nor do I just stop existing or anything…
I’ve been thinking about this topic lately, now that corporate social media is all about “free speech” since Trump got re elected. I don’t use those platforms, but I think they banned obvious cases like racists and such, and then everyone could pretend those people didn’t exist anymore and we live in a nice and happy world without racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. But it’s been festering in the background, and now BOOM! you get Trump 2.0 😄

I’m going to copy paste what I replied to someone else in here, just on the wild chance that this is your issue too and this might help:
I also experienced issues with my system completely freezing after waking up from sleep - for me the issue turned out to be due to bluetooth/wifi drivers, and with this workaround things work fine again: https://github.com/alimert-t/suspend-freeze-fix-for-mt7921e/tree/main My card is mt7922 (found that out with lshw -C network) but I guess it’s having the same issue, because after applying that fix it all works now.
I haven’t had as bad of an experience with Nvidia as people say - but ofc your mileage may vary depending on your compositor, the apps you use, the distro you use, etc.

If you’re lucky this is your issue too, and the fix above should do it. 🤞
I think this “it just works” experience depends much on the hardware and software you use. But no matter what, in the long term, if you’re not willing to put in time and learn how stuff works, how to troubleshoot, how to check logs, use the terminal, etc. I think you’re going to have a bad time and be disappointed.
I’ve used Linux exclusively for the past 10 years, both at home and at work, and I wouldn’t advise anyone who wants a care-free “it just works” experience. Linux is not good at that, and I think anyone who claims it is does more harm than good.
Linux is good for tinkering, self-hosting stuff, connectivity and flexibility. Most people want their games to work, not this. For me, I love it and I use it for everything including sim racing and VR games.

I think I read somewhere that the Spanish course is the most advanced?!
Not sure but it does feel better and fuller that’s for sure, and it has a lot more audio bits and fun stuff like that.

That’s like a trick question 😀
If I say it’s good, and that contradicts your own experience with it, you can say “see it’s overrated, people say it’s good, but in fact I know it sucks.”
I use it on Arch but I’ve seen people using it on Fedora and it looked good and stable.
Did you try to look into it, see what’s causing the problems?
In my experience having used Linux and KDE Plasma for about a decade now, if you wanna have a good time you’re going to have to figure stuff out, check the logs, troubleshoot, look it up online, etc.
If you expect to go through different distros to find one that “just works” you’ll be disappointed, and you’ll be wasting your time. Issues can be hardware-specific, maybe you just need to pass a parameter to the kernel, or change a config somewhere or something like that…
