I mostly browse “Top X hours” which is All the communities and it’s filled with terrible memes and “funny” things I’ve blocked of few of these meme communities but overall it feels pretty low quality content aside from news but still there there’s lots of duplicates due to the various similar commuties on Lemmy
Lemmy is kinda nice but still kinda quiet, also as a 30 something I feel that the crowd here is quite young and immature which isn’t that great

It’s still terrible because of its ram usage, electron uses minimum 300Mb per instance so that’s 3GB for 10 apps while if you open them all in Chrome you save 100s of mb

I’ve worked for a massive corporation in which they had 300mb+ excel files they bought high specs computers just to have them load fast enough and searching would take 3 to 5 minutes we suggested that they’d try moving it to Microsoft access and the query became instant, I can’t imagine the hours wasted waiting for the queries to run

That’s the go to way to do it, you only allow the browsers that you know work, Firefox probably works fine for most things but maybe one feature breaks and instead of fixing it they decided to remove it from the whitelist
