It’s your ignorance and ego convincing you to do a disservice to your children.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why is the herd mentality so common on Lemmy?
39·5 months agoCould just be a consequence of a less ideologically diverse user base to start with.
I’m so upset about (privacy, reddit, corporatism, etc, etc) that I’m prepared to leave my large online social networks for a smaller space on principal is probably a bit of an outlier position to take.
Not that it’s wrong, but it’s probably something we all agree on. Something out there is so fucked up we refuse to be a part of it on principal, even if we don’t fully agree on what that is.
It isn’t always peaceful like that, but I’m grateful that has been your experience.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Are you familiar with that thing where you eat popcorn and you get a tough little piece lodged way back in the depths of your mouth right by the base of your tongue?
5·8 months agoI know exactly what you’re talking about, I either dig it out with a finger or gargle it out.
I love lichess. It’s a brilliant platform and easily the most ethical online chess platform alternative out there.
That said, I’m really not a big fan of Danny Rensch, so I kind of see chess.com as the evil option.
Because you are the product.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you have any tattoos, piercings, or scars that you regret?
2·1 year agoYeah the artist I went to made my idea theirs in a way that I didn’t really like, and they honestly didn’t execute very well either.
Over time even I don’t like the idea I had then that much, but now i also get to dislike the artists version of it even more.
I’ve thought about getting it laser removed, but I think that might create a glaring blank space on a heavily freckled arm by removing the freckles.
I’ve thought about getting a coverup, and might, but that doesn’t make short sleeves any more accessible in professional situations. And whether it’s right or wrong for someone to be influenced in that environment by me having a tattoo, it’s real.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you have any tattoos, piercings, or scars that you regret?
2·1 year agoIt’s unique and would concretely identify me so I’m not sharing it. But it harms my ability to manage first impressions sometimes and makes warmer weather less comfortable for me when I’m in short sleeves.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you have any tattoos, piercings, or scars that you regret?
10·1 year agoYes. I have a large tattoo on one of my arms that I wish I didn’t have.
It’s not offensive or anything like that, it’s just…. Kind of a statement piece about something I cared about then and kind of just don’t now.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are some manmade and enjoyable ambient phenomena?
7·1 year agoThe sounds of long running appliances in the background like a dishwasher, or clothes dryer.
I loved this series, it was written in such an interesting way and has a pretty unique premise
None here, had never thought about that. Now I feel lonely.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the worst present you've ever received?
33·2 years agoWas that their expectation of you, or just a common religious interpretation?
I know plenty of people who use the term and have no care for the religious history of it.
I went to kbin.social during the Reddit api exodus, and when that fell apart I had seen enough of lemmy through federated content to know that was where to go.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Phoronix: Linus Torvalds Comments On The Russian Linux Maintainers Being Delisted
8·2 years agoAnd FYI for the actual innocent bystanders who aren’t troll farm accounts - the “various compliance requirements” are not just a US thing.
If you haven’t heard of Russian sanctions yet, you should try to read the news some day. And by “news”, I don’t mean Russian state-sponsored spam.

Well this was entirely predictable and obvious.
