Yeah, it’s no different from “someone think of the kids”.

Most western european countries had better social safety than the soviet union, and have to this day. If the point is that it feels the trend is getting worse, then I agree.

You required permission to gather above a certain number and only allowed if it were approved by the party, no matter how well fed you were. There was also a constant surveillance state, and state police enforcement, which yes, we are getting there now too.

As for the famines, you had holodomor and “the great leap forward”.

I will not defend capitalism, but these issues were definitely a staple of most communist regimes.

One party system, the cultural revolution, the gulags, the great purge. I don’t understand how that’s even disputable.

You will not get me defending capitalism. But wont white wash communist regimes neither.

You’ll also find people talking about the food lines and the rationing, the envy of western abundance, the countless crackdowns on freedom and liberties, the famines, etc…

I also know people that lived through my country’s fascist period and seemingly “things were better back then”…

These anecdotal evidences mean little, you’ll find someone with the opposing opinion or experience.

The vast majority of old people miss their childhood.

The audacity of that nazi of accusing anyone else of scraping.

It was a good solution for those of us that wanted minimum interaction after deleting an account.

I usually point out that they were the ones saying that their phones are listening to them and making changes to their instagram\shopping algorithm.

Fair enough, even if a far-fetched scenario in my opinion. There’s a bit over estimated sense of how much the community is worth to Meta.

It doesn’t matter to me what company it is, I think it’s more important that we get a bigger community with a plurality of opinions and ideas. I also don’t believe it risks anything.

I completely disagree that its not something worth voting, but I already seem to be in a minority ( or less vocal opinion), so…

Why can’t people vote for this?

Probably much older than your son, but I do the same. I don’t view an instant message as a call to action, if it’s indeed urgent, just call me.

I feel like old people take most offense to being ignored in that case.

I went for what I believe to be the bigger one, because it might get a higher quality of support from third parties, and still be here after a year.
