You did ask if it’s the best custom ROM. And the other poster did answer that question pretty well.

bastionntb@lemmy.mlto Open Source@lemmy.ml•SDL port of the Abuse 2D platformer engineEnglish3·5 months agoI loved this game when I was younger. I tried compiling this like a month ago, couldn’t get it to work. Made me real sad. Though, I don’t know what I’m doing so, probably my fault. The game is legendary though, sound design, gameplay, etc. Awesome stuff.
bastionntb@lemmy.mlto Linux@lemmy.ml•ELI5: What causes a Steam game not to run on an operating system like a Linux distro?English82·5 months agoPut simply, it’s like a translator that knows many of the languages Windows will speak. However, it’s not always fluent in every language it might speak. This is what proton does, it translates system calls into Linux, essentially. It almost always will work, specially with Steam games.
In other cases, it’s game devs making desicisons to disallow use of Linux. Specifically anti cheat. Not all anticheat is disallowed, but game devs could allow it. They just choose not too.
Most games will run just fine on Linux. I’ve switched entirely to Linux and said goodbye to those few online anitcheat games that disallow. Most everything works.
I hear a lot of good talk on Mullvad and ProtonVPN. ProtonVPN allows port forwarding. But yeah, it’s a bit pricey. Good luck in your search.

I can’t imagine switching everyone in my family to Linux. I think it’d be too much to support lol.

It is complete when the game’s dysfunction can no longer be overlooked because of the intermittent highs you get from a good play you made in a round.

I have not or will not buy anything Activision or Blizzard, I would rather pirate if I wanted it that bad. But I’m finding that their games now a days are just copy and paste someone else’s usually. This really was a dick move though.
Only since last July. It’s Arch btw. I love it, but wifey doesn’t understand it and therefore I still have windows. ☹️
