There are many reasons why Elon Musk is a horrible human being. This isn’t one of them.
And the ability to breathe.
The whole premise of this discussion was about technological progress and growth going by your initial comment. That means refining existing models and training new ones, which is going to cost a lot of energy. The way this industry is going, even privacy conscious usage of open source models will contribute to the insane energy usage by creating demand and popularizing the technology.
Do we really need to grow our energy consumption as a society by such a disproportionate amount?
It’s always been a “whole ass computer”, not some kind of simple storage device.
I haven’t used TypeScript in a classically OOP way and it never felt like I was being urged to do so either.
Consider what trace minerals actually means, then think about the tiny amounts of salt used for cooking.
I’ve been hating on the raw food movement for much longer than lemmy even existed. Drinking raw milk is especially stupid.
I would fucking hope not. TERM is explicitly passed along as the only exception, which is the only sensible default for temporary privilege elevation in a shell.
It’s a phoronix article, there’s never more than two paragraphs and a quote in there anyway.
None of what I said implied anything else.
I’m aware that any of the past attempts to classify body types are extremely pseudo-scientific and I’ve explained as much in a different comment in this thread. The point is that “body type” isn’t just necessarily just a generic way to refer to someone’s body shape. Plenty of people still believe in that made up nonsense.
No, like this: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitution_type
Even if I were to agree with this rather obvious trolling attempt.
Peak reddit conversation.
That makes a bit more sense. I was initially reminded of the various pseudo-scientific attempts to classify variations in human body shapes, which usually don’t factor in great variations in body fat content. The way it’s used in the image made me think this was an attempt to frame an unhealthy lifestyle as something inherent that can’t be changed.
“Body type”? Is obesity a body type?
I don’t doubt that Steam being first to market is the biggest reason for their success, but you make it sound as if there’s some alternative store that is better for the consumer in some way. What’s the alternative? I have yet to see any other store/launcher come close to Steam in terms of features, even more so when it comes to Linux support, which Valve have turned into a viable gaming OS pretty much by themselves. In the end, even exclusivity and drastically lower fees for publishers didn’t make EGS the success that Tim Sweeney wishes it was and I think at that point being first to market can’t be the only explanation. They have to be doing something right.

I’ve heard of it before and I don’t work in advertising or video production. Why is everyone focusing on this term like these guys invented it?
Most gamers don’t specifically follow gaming news or keep up with all the latest scandals (of which there are too many to keep up with in any case), but they will notice if the nostalgia project they’ve been looking forward to is suddenly gone.
