Physics say a monopole magnet is mathematically possible, something like that would absolutely cause a disturbance because it doesn’t conform to the laws of physics we have defined like every action has an equal and opposite reaction… I think you’re right, something happened but I don’t know why it would be someone and not simply probability and the natural world conforming to that probability

I think I believe in something more like… biology and physics working together in some way to create our existence. I had a near death experience once when I was in ICU for several months. I met, a… thing, it was like a large glowing spark but its light didn’t travel away from its self, its glowing was contained to its “body”. I asked “is that me?” and the “room” we were in was filled with a sense of “no” it’s taken me ten years to process that experience and be able to talk about it, idk what that spark was but I’ve come to accept I believe that is the All Thing, it’s the eternal spark all sentient life stems from, I do believe access to long term memory is critical for being a part of the All Thing not simply being animated biology, like a mosquito for example.

I think the All Thing animates biology as a way to experience the physical world because it must “live” somewhere and we are all avatars, our thoughts are only important in the sense that they lead us to experiences and forming memories. I believe in nonduality and that physics is actually the closest humans will ever get to describing a god, an All Thing

Plastic, the patriot act, the Iraq war, AI, the internet, social media, I managed to avoid all platforms except Facebook which my spouse talked me into after months of trying to get me to join and finally deleted it recently, I kind of just hate tech in general, the never ending cycle of “upgrades” that actually make your life significantly shittier, competition, gender roles, giant SUVs, porn, extremely exotic pets, Tesla (test drove a high end model when it first came out and said it was like eating cafeteria food off a really nice tray and didn’t buy it) I’m sure plenty more… as an elder millennial the rise of the 21st century has just been so incredibly disappointing and shallow.

That’s just people who know how to cook, beginners want to follow recipes to a T and almost always come up with sub par results to someone who knows how to cook because they already incorporate what you’ve mentioned. This is just “make sure people cooking know how to cook” lol

The term “tankie” exists independently and prior to the popularization of the internet

I accidentally subscribed to one and it was filled with tankies acting like they were the true and righteous moral bastions of society while espousing blatantly ableist ideas and pure wishful thinking rewrites of history. I left and blocked that community.

Dark City (1998) could definitely fit the bill, it has so many unique ideas for that time in film and you can see there’s of all sorts of future sci-fi movies in it from the matrix to inception, it’s a very visually ugly movie and the acting is subpar but as a premise it’s super interesting. Generally I think remakes are a waste of time and money but I’d love to see this movie with a proper budget and modern technology

I’ve always assumed communism works really well the smaller the group but at the scale of hundreds of millions it becomes very difficult logistically and also of course all those people need to agree with it so they’re not actively trying to sabotage it. I don’t see any danger in smaller nations being communist and never understood why people do consider it dangerous, outside of the obvious capitalist reasons and of course the dictators who used it as a front

Unless the example is similar in size and scope to the country I live in I struggle to find true relevance in the subject of communism as a national government

I ask because I had a bilateral lung transplant, and when I consider the level of social support beyond just financial but also that too and access to medical services, this means supplies, well educated doctors, nurses and surgeons, facilities capable of a bilateral lung transplant, medications which are manufactured all over the world, the need is very high, it feels like this particular perspective would leave a person like me high and dry? At what point do we make the call that community support is enough and how do we define community? Those are all very critical questions for someone like me, and many other disabled people. I guess I wonder, although I agreed a lot with your comment is arachno-syndicatism abelist? Could this ideology ever result in successfully running a world class hospital?

This is such a rigid and literal way of thinking. This mentality explicitly idealizes and romanticizes black and white thinking. Life has shades of gray, no matter how much you wish it was as simple as literal Good versus Evil
