I’m using it as my main gaming distro now but I still have it break sometimes. Mostly due to Bluetooth stuff, but I also need to shut down the pc completely whenever I leave it running on its own for a while because it just doesn’t wake back up if it sleeps - and I always forget to look into that after turning it back on.

Hudell@lemmy.dbzer0.comto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Are people in the US aware that they are now definitely a rogue state, or is this fact covered up by the usual patriotism somehow?English2·2 months agoIn most of the US they have HOA who likely forbid such things for an absurd fear that a slightly uglier house down in your street will tank your property’s value.

If they were to join I imagine the existing party wouldn’t carry over and new ones would need to be organized.
Hudell@lemmy.dbzer0.comto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why are there no large demonstrations in the USA against Donald Trump's policies?English51·2 months agoBecause the US doesn’t have any opposition parties or any local leadership that can organize anything. Protests in other places are usually organized by unions, for example. In America everyone just sits at their own couch thinking “someone should be doing something by now” and it never crosses their minds that they should be that someone.
Just installed it here. Setup process was not as smooth as I had hoped but nothing beyond what I’m already capable of fixing on my own.
Ended up nuking windows with it (with no backups) as it didn’t have an option to keep it without manually setting up every partition. Hope I won’t miss it.
Do you recommend Bazzite, or any other similar distro, for gaming PCs?
I currently have a dual boot system where I use Linux for work and windows only for gaming and gamedev. I’ve recently started cleaning up the windows disk in preparation for replacing it with something like SteamOS, but haven’t decided yet on what to use.
In any specific god? no. What I believe is that we don’t know and will never know anything beyond our own existence. We don’t know what we are, in the grand scheme of things (or if there’s a grand scheme at all). We don’t even know if we actually exist.
I just live my life to the best of my abilities and shrug off all that “beyond my existence” stuff as pointless. If I tried to think about it, I don’t believe I would ever come anywhere close to a real answer anyway.

He got fired at noon. The official reason was that he had copied that stuff without authorization, but a more likely reason was that someone had accidentally written an extra zero on the offer they made him, because it was several times above average in the area.
Hudell@lemmy.dbzer0.comto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What would sell better if people knew about it?English7·2 years agoI switched my laptop for a desktop a long time ago since I always work from home anyway, but yesterday I had to go the city my company’s office is in and thought: “I can work with the steam deck for one day”. It worked perfectly well.
Today someone asked me if I was really working on a PSP.

I once worked as a 3rd party in a large internet news site and got assigned a task to replace their current captcha with a partner’s captcha system. This new system would play an ad and ask the user to type the name of the company in that ad.
In my first test I already noticed that the company name was available in a public variable on the site and showed that to my manager by opening the dev tools and passing the captcha test with just some commands.
His response: “no user is gonna go into that much effort just to avoid typing the company name”.

Lemmy is more than good enough for bathroom scrolling and I’ve actually gone back to reading books before bed. Just finished one yesterday.
I would assume the machine would predict I take both because it would know me too well to belive there would be anything in B, so I would take A.
I’m loving bluefin and I really want to go all in on the immutable stuff, but I’m having a hard time being productive on it. The devcontainers experience has been miserable (probably because I refuse to use VSCode and every other editor having poor or no support for it); I also had SElinux fuck me up when trying to build some complex dockerfile from a project at work (something that was supposed to just work took me two whole days of debugging - and I even managed to break bluefin’s boot process when I tried to mess with the SElinux configuration. This one was mostly due to my own inexperience with SElinux, combined with there being a lot less content on the internet about fixing stuff on immutable distros compared to traditional ones).
