Do you think the ‘video of the day’ posts should be locked?
I think by commenting on the videos on tilvids.com, the creator and other users will be able to respond and reply to your thoughts and questions directly since not all of them use Lemmy. I think this will create more engagement on tilvids.
Now not all videos are uploaded directly by the creator on TILvids, some videos are uploaded with the permission from the creator.
What are your thoughts?
I think it’s kind of inconvenient to comment on peertube channels. If I watch a video on tilvids I want to comment on, I first have to copy the link in the address bar, then go to my mastodon account, then paste it into the searchbar, then click the post that appears and finally start writing a comment.
I think the process of interacting with video content has to improve. It would feel a lot smoother if we had a federated service specialized for spectators. I think this could be solved by having a service where you can subscribe to instances and channels as if it was RSS and where you can comment easily.
Yeah, it does become inconvenient for some users. I will the posts open.
As far as I know lemmy is not federated with peertube so people would have to create an account to comment, it would discourage a few I think.
I think we should keep the comments open on Lemmy. Sometimes discussions might take place about the video to don’t make sense in the video comments. It sometimes gets very meta.
I think link aggregation without discussions is not good, sure encourage people to comment on the video rather than here, but don’t block it completely
Ok. I will leave the posts open.
It doesn’t hurt to have more ways to comment.
You can still encourage people to engage on TILvids, e.g. by posting a comment both there and on Lemmy.
Besides, the priority for TILvids should be on the videos. Comments are nice to have, but not for their own sake.
Ok. The posts will remain unlocked. Thanks for the reply
Good question! Personally, I don’t think our community is large enough on TILvids yet to make commenting active enough. People come to Lemmy specifically to discuss, and that’s cool. Maybe something to consider down the road as the TILvids community grows.
Thanks to everyone joining us from Lemmy, much more engagement here than on Reddit! You guys rock!
