Added to list, thanks!
The avsolute best that I’ve read is Phantom Star by Seras on RR. Unfortunately they haven’t finished the story. (there is ai, but it’s a dumb ai)
2nd place is Quarter Share (Trader’s Tales from the Golden Age of the Solar Clipper) by Nathan Lowell.
3rd place is Bobiverse.
Honorable Mention is Rookie Privateer (Privateer Tales Book 1) by Jamie McFarlane. This one would be higher, but as the series went on they became more and more militaristic.
Absolutely adore fantasy too. Everything from classic, swords and sorcery to litrpg and cultivation. You got something space opera with fantasy? I’m excited.
Looks promising, added to list, thanks!
Oh, this looks great! Thanks!
Thanks for the warning!
Best way is to test it. Get the voice commands to work. Then non-destructively block the mic. Does tape stop it from working? No? Try sticky tac or playdoh or chewing gum. Does that stop it? Yes? Maybe try something more permenant like hot glue or superglue. Then verify it still doesn’t work.
yaroto98@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Are you scared of AI becoming sentient? How do we ensure we never make one that is?71·14 days agoPick up a book on machine learning. AI is marketing, it’s not true AI. Start with some simple linear algebra models, and then struggle working through sort-of understanding the statistics behind the different types of models. Once you understand those. LLMs are similar. AI as you know it is really tricky math and a large library that predicts the correct order of words to respond to you. “AI” as it is now, has no more of a chance to gain sapience than a website.
I was going to pick a textbook, but with organic material and a little slime mold, you actually have the right building blocks for sentiance.
yaroto98@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do most ppl feel the desire to tell someone (such as their SO) about their day?7·15 days agoAnything really. You’ve spent so much time with your SO that you’ve basically told them everything about yourself and vice-versa. But you still want to talk to them and tell them things. So, you start bringing up new stuff. Dreams, office gossip, that jerk in traffic, whatever happens.
Ah, I tried reading the first one and couldn’t get past the first few chapters.
Space Opera, think Firefly.
