no you only have two options as of right now. dark or light. that’s it.
COSMIC-Term also has very poor image support so using something like Yazi with it is a waste of time. I can see where they’re going with the Terminal, it’s not there yet though.

no. and why does it matter to you so much? If someone wants to say they switched to linux then awesome, have at it, good job, have fun and all that. but then you roll in with “ok…how are you using it? show me!” who cares? you’re literally gate keeping an operating system.
you don’t have to commit to a damn operating system, it’s a tool. If I had a Brand A hammer and it really sucked I’d swap it for a Brand B hammer that was suggested to me. Now if Brand A suddenly started producing a better hammer and admitted their previous hammer was garbage then I would consider going back to Brand A.
If Microsoft came out tomorrow and said “you know what? we were wrong. We were wrong about AI, we were wrong about 11, we’re going to provide you with a better OS” I would consider going back to it. I’d at the very least try it. Or if someone came out with something brand new that wasn’t Linux or MacOS or Windows and it was a better tool than all of them I’d switch to that.
The point is I’m not going to lose sleep over someone wanting to switch and then not, why do I care? I got more stuff to worry about than some random stranger on the internet not using a specific OS. What DOES bother me more are people replying to comments where someone is having issues with Windows and says “just use linux” that isn’t helping anyone and you come off as a basement dwelling asshole that’s waiting on their chicken nuggies to finish heating in the microwave.
I’d look into potentially setting up Winboat or Winapps on her machine. would make using Windows stuff slightly easier as opposed to having to keep opening up a VM.

yeah feels like I change terminals and DEs/WMs on a weekly basis…so many options and I have yet to find the perfect setup for myself after years.

for non-techie users that want to switch it’s great. Yes the updates are slow and few/far between but I mean if you go the paid route you get tech support and a few other software packages/themes.
I think for people who just want to keep older machines going and simply want to do work and browse/stream it’s fine. beyond that? good luck. I’ve heard that upgrading it is worse than Ubuntu and it’s based on Ubuntu so…
But Zorin has pretty good PR so that’s what’s going for them. Honestly though if you want a new user on linux that isn’t comfortable with it just yet I feel there are better options that “just work” like Bazzite or Mint.

the paid version, I believe, also provides one on one tech support for it.

Here’s what happened speaking as someone who worked for 3 adult companies that were all bought by manwin/pornhub.
They bought out too many companies that hosted user generated porn/“reality” porn and couldn’t/didn’t do anything with it.
Take Pink Visual/Twistys for example. a good 10 years or so ago they bought them (I was working there) Now the only thing Twistys had going for it was A. the actual Twisty brand which was like a B or C tier Playboy and B. it’s user generated sites (GayTube, SexTube, TrannyTube, etc) and arguably Gaytube was in the later stages of the companies life making the money. It was all user and affiliated submitted content that had to be manually moderated (that was me) in order to go up on the site. Yes I saw/reported a lot of underage content but overall the majority was consenting adults and there was A LOT of it. Side note you know the video of the guy that sticks the jar up his ass and it doesn’t go well? we got that first and I denied it buttttttttt I did send it along to some “other” sites. you’re welcome.
Every “user” site was moderated by at least 2 people. each one. When manwin bought us they didn’t bother with that and got their asses nailed for it. SO instead of using moderators to view all the content submitted they decided to just not allow any of it unless it was from a studio. the problem with that? they pretty much bought all the studios and promptly either relocated them or shut them down. This is what happened to another company I worked for, Digital Pink. They did “reality porn” like Wife Swap, College Orgy Party or whatever it was called, and a shit ton more I can’t remember. We also ran a massive and very successful affiliate program called Topbucks. Manwin buys the company and again doesn’t do anything with it. all that content goes bye bye. And because there’s no content the affiliates aren’t making money so all those smaller niche sites also go bye bye.
The lack of content as you’ve clearly seen is their own doing. A handful of content studios remain and all those creators that were submitting their own stuff to us have gone else where be it onlyfans or simply putting up their own crap somewhere. the ONE company that has been around longer than any of it and STILL hasn’t sold to Manwin/Pornhub and is all amateur created content is Southern-Charms but…yeah you’ll be hard pressed to find a “looker” on that site.
Manwin became a sort of monopoly for porn. They just didn’t do anything with the shit they bought and now after all these years they’re starting to hurt. They won’t be around much longer.
looks like a bad Nvidia driver that isn’t playing nice with Niri since it looks like Niri triggered it. Try installing temporarly another Wayland WM like say River or Hyprland and see if it still happens. Bet it’s not going to happen on River, bet it will happen on Hyprland.
Reinstall your Nvidia drivers, update your kernel, update Niri if it isn’t already up to date.

you have to be REALLY careful when asking an LLM to summarize news otherwise it will hallucinate what it believes sounds logical and correct. you have to point it directly to the article, ensure that it reads it, and then summarize. and honestly at that point…you might as well read it yourself.
And this goes beyond just summarizing articles you NEED to provide an LLM a source for just about everything now. Even if you tell it to research online the solution to a problem many times now it’ll search for non-relevant links and utilize that for its solution because, again, to the LLM it makes the most sense when in reality it has nothing to do with your problem.
At this point it’s an absolute waste of time using any LLM because within the last few months all models have noticeably gotten worse. Claude.ai is an absolute waste of time as 8 times out of 10 all solutions are hallucinations and recently GPT5 has started “fluffing” solutions with non-relevant information or it info dumps things that have nothing to do with your original prompt.

if I’m on KDE I just don’t bother using it. I just remove it from my panel. krunner is all I need as it can also run commands.
yes I should have clarified I completely own the domain. the deal I got was essentially a “coupon” thus free for registering the domain that the web hosting service was partnered with. naturally once my first year is up I have to pay for the domain on a regular basis.
This is what I did but I would suggest you shop around. in many cases for first time sign ups you can get the domain for free and you pay a discounted price for the first year. For example I went with a local webhosting service where I got the domain for free, unlimited email account creations, and a decent shared web hosting server for $50 a year. I use the web hosting to host my personal site regardless of the fact I have a dedicated server with OVH. But I mean the free domain and emails + web hosting for $50 a year was a deal I couldn’t turn down.

there’s many forks that have the stuff turned off by default like Librewolf and Floorp
I personally use Qutebrowser. there’s many better options than straight up Firefox.

I…I don’t understand. Why would you use Bazzite for software development and not gaming when user is not a gamer but just likes KDE?
you can literally put KDE on anything. Bazzite isn’t friendly to installing anything that isn’t a flatpak or whatever.
Just use a different distro. you don’t need Bazzite. Switch them to like Fedora KDE or something.
And to people in this thread trying to push a camel through a pin hole…why? you’re talking about setting up VMs and Distroboxs or just using flatpaks on Bazzite when the most painless solution is to just switch distros.
You picked the wrong distro, just switch them to something more appropriate for what they want to do.

I have used fedi.video and add/follow various instances I find to mine but I’m not sure if I don’t have my peertube configured correctly or what but it’s not pulling up anything decent.

it’s my default browser. It’s good and very impressive considering it’s essentially one dude working on it.

If i’m using firefox I prefer trydactil over vimium.
Trydactil is more inline with Qutebrowser. and honestly it actually does quickmarks better than qutebrowser. what I like about Trydactil is you can have quickmark binds set up to access sites. Works awesome if you also install the i3 firefox theme.
Only issue is Mozilla is an absolute paranoid android about certain things like using these extensions when opening new tabs or using them to navigate ANYTHING that Mozilla directly controls. then you have to get ANOTHER extension just to make tabs work the way you want. it’s annoying. So I just use Qutebrowser instead.

pre-written canned responses to emails essentially. you type out a default/standard response for something which you can then quickly copy and paste via a keybind.
So it only really applies in a business environment if you’re getting emailed the same stuff daily. it’s a very niche tool that you pay for.

DOOM Emacs + Everywhere. I use this.
Doom Emacs is essentially a vim version of Emacs. same nav and everything. With the Everywhere plugin you can quite literally use emacs and thus vim to type…well…everywhere. For example I’m typing this reply right now using Emacs and thus vim navigation. I can use it to write emails in other programs or have it included in my TUI email client. use it for writing comments on websites, pretty much where ever there’s a text field I can keybind it to use Doom Emacs. It’s pretty neat.
likely a bug or a “feature” they haven’t let fully baked yet with a few other theme options on the DE. Could probably make an issue for it.
