protput@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is a fun gadget you have purchased that has added value to your life?1·1 year agoI bought a cheap low power minipc. Don’t know the numbers but having a 10yo desktop powered 27/7 can’t be that great for your power consumption.
The one I bought is an Intel Alder Lake N100 Quad Core up to 3.4GHZ, 16GB DDR5 512GB for €160.

protput@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is a fun gadget you have purchased that has added value to your life?2·1 year agoLove my little Anbernic RG35xx with GarlicOS! You can have an (almost) complete library of all games from NES to PS1 on a 128GB card. Total price I paid including upgraded 128GB card was like €50.

The coral is widely available now, but instead of €65 for the usb version I paid almost double. Still cheaper then a graphics card that would do the same.

protput@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is a fun gadget you have purchased that has added value to your life?1·1 year agoDoesn’t frigate need a lot of processing power? I bought a minipc (€160) with a Google coral (€110) for AI image processing. My synology just couldn’t handle it. I run all my docker containers on that minipc now. Also Home Assistant, mqtt, zigbee2mqtt, frigate. Some other that I like are immich and vaultwarden.
I definitely read this as your first daughter being pregnant and you becoming a grandparent.
The big difference with Europe. I live in Belgium and I can visit 4 countries that are less then a 2 hour drive.
I’ve never been outside of Europe though… So I guess I have to compare it with that.
protput@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is a product that you won’t accept a generic alternative for?3·2 years agoZeisner curry ketchup is the best though! Don’t know if you can buy it in the Netherlands.
I’m definitely trying the frikandelbroodje next time I’m at Albert Heijn. Don’t know if the Belgian one has all the same products.

That would be something I could google. So not completely useless.
My Samsung S5 had one of those. You could just put a normal micro USB cable in them to charge.
This might be true for a very select few devices. Before usb-c I have never seen something else besides micro USB on an android device (besides the micro USB 3.0 connection, but you could put a normal micro USB cable in those)
Do you get a Pavlov boner when your mother in law spends the night?
