I am old and grumpy. I support the trailing edge of technology. I can also be found over at @nickb333.

I can’t even remember if I subscribed to r/archlinux over there, I’ve eradicated my account now so it doesn’t really matter. The important bits are (1) I’m an Arch user, amd64 and arm7hf mainly. (2) I’m subbed to this community. May it live long and prosper!
I have tried the search, for example !space@lemmy.link doesn’t return anything - but if I try @space@lemmy.link or space@lemmy.link I get the response not found. Maybe I need to wait longer for the search to query the remote instance @lemmy.link?
I am having a similar issue here at beehaw.org. I can’t see anything from @lemmy.link listed in the communities.
And non-disclosure mentioned. Will they be wanting participants to sign an NDA?
Keep us updated how this goes. Are they even governed by EU law if they are in the US?
I used Baconreader on Android but I may have subscribed to RSS at one time too. 14 years but not so much recently.
If you have the choice, I encourage you to choose to avoid these companies. But for those of us struggling to make ends meet, we’re stuck having to give business to companies that not only help create people like me, but depend on our need for them. Please remember that when there are calls that everyone has to stop using them.
Principle comes at a price not everybody can afford.
And this is the way they get big and grab their market share because they can afford to undercut the more ethical competition. When that competition ceases to trade, then they’ll bump up their prices. This is capitalism (at least, as I understand it.)
This one. I need to use Farcebook occasionally and this allows me to stay logged in without getting tracked elsewhere. Same for my Google account.
It’s no great loss as it was a one-off payment in the App Store. If they changed it to a rolling subscription then I would seriously have to consider my options.
Don’t forget Capita suffered a recent cyber attack .
I’ve used Baconreader for a number of years. I guess that will be toast then?
Don’t beat yourself up over that. Sometimes the missing firmware isn’t an easy one to spot, I’ve been there in the past with Arch and more recently with Debian 12. You’ll be ready for the next time!
