  • VPN into your home lab isn’t about privacy, it’s more about reducing your exposed services to the public internet.

If you have only the ports needed to VPN back into your network, then the rest is hidden behind your router. You only need to fully secure one thing, instead of having to ensure that everything is 100% patched.

It’s not the only thing you should be doing, but it does help reduce the probability of a breach.

  • Would I know everything I know now? Cause if not, then what’s the point? I might as well be a completely different person (because I would be).

If I do know everything I know now, then would I retain that intelligence if I was another creature? Like could I come back as a chimpanzee with my full current intellect? What about an octopus?

Could I come back as a 90 year old billionaire’s only heir, and be born with my complete current knowledge? Then I can just use the cash to help people?

Since this is fantasy anyway, could I come back as a Viltrumite? What about a Kryptonian?

    Could I be Cthulhu?

Could I just be me, but reborn with my current information?

    WHAT ARE THE RULES???

  • Just like anything else, one chunk at a time.

You can start with a story and build the game off of that, or you can start with the gameplay and build up from there.

Sometimes you just have to start, and see where it goes. Pick an engine and start building something, don’t be afraid to throw it all out and start over from what you’ve learned so far. Make a game that has some of the elements you want to use and try it out, then throw it out and make a different game with other bits. Start small and work up.

The biggest problem is thinking it has to be perfect to move on to the next part.

You can commission art, or you can buy some models and just use those.

You can also just build everything from the ground up, but it would be hard to do that for your first project.
