  • To things that helps no mater your skill level the tab key is your best friend and man pages are great but if those are overwhelming install the package tldr then you can use the command tldr and the command you are trying to run to give you helpful examples of how to use that command.

Also old users don’t remember long commands if we use a command more than once. You save it to your bash alias file to create your own commands.

  • This is 100% true and well said. One tick I use with myself and tell others is think of something embarrassing or bad about yourself.

Then come up with something embarrassing you remember about someone else you in the last 5 years. 9 times out of 10 they can’t remember anything. It shows the world is too busy reliving every mistake or rejection about themselves to even register anyone else.

Then I turn it around can you remember the last time you told yourself you did a good job. Then ask if they remember a time someone commented them or got called for doing a good job. Normally it’s the complete 180 on answers. If we took the time to call ourselves out for being awesome more and stopped holding on to those mistakes we mad when we were 20’s or hell 10s. We would believe a lot better off.

    Debian since 1998 checking in

I use it because it’s just always been there it’s the foundation for so many other distros and can be customized the way I want it to be. All the packages are for the most part vanilla other than fixing them to follow the Debian rules. The Debian rules are great since once you learn them. You knows where to find anything on a Debian system.

  • Yeah he has a protective aura as one of his powers to protect him from friction and he heals fast but not like wolverine just a broken bone would heal in minutes not weeks. After mark waid that got retconed to be the speedforce but it works the same. Also wally had a guilt induced mental block that reduced his connection to the speedforce due to Barry’s death. Once he worked through that he ended up faster and had better control than even Barry. As Barry controls the speedforce with his mind. Wally controls it with his heart.

Doesn’t a company have more guarantee to be lawful, because they will be under the magnifier glass compared to a bunch of anonymous individuals?>

As we see every day companies are not held accountable. As for a bunch of individuals the rest of the servers can shun people (deFederate) that are doing unacceptable behavior just like in real life when living in a society.

Stuff needed tweaking more wine worked almost never even for basically window’s programs. Configuring Xfree86 was black magic. Running Startx at the terminal prompt was like rolling the dice. Distro choice was smaller and it was really a choice. Since the child distros were less of a thing. You had Debian , Redhat, Slackware, and SUSE. All were very different at a fundamental level with packaging and philosophy. Also it was way more common to buy boxed copies of Linux distros with big thick manuals that helped you get it installed and take your first steps with Linux. It reminded me of when I first got my TI 83 calculator an it had that massive manual with it.

Also Lugs and spending a lot of time on IRC getting and helping people on freenode (don’t go there now) was a must.
