Check out !canvas@toast.ooo to see last year’s result, and watch for news about the next one.
This reminds me that I need to plan some art for the next event!

It’s often nice to have two documents side-by-side instead.

As far as I know, dried and canned beans are comparable. The biggest difference is that canned beans usually have added salt, which a lot of us could probably do without.
kersploosh@sh.itjust.worksto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How would you feel about the government adding magnesium to water?43·2 months agoI would rather find ways to encourage people to eat foods that are natural sources of magnesium. They provide lots of other dietary benefits beyond just magnesium.

Olive oil
Lemon juice
Crushed or minced garlic
Salt
Black pepperFavorite #2, Mexican-ish:
Olive oil
Lime juice
Chili powder
Cumin
SaltFavorite #3, lazy pseudo-Japanese:
Soy sauceIdk the exact proportions. Just wing it. With a bit of experience you’ll get it dialed in to suit your taste.
Marinate anywhere from 2 hours to overnight. Longer time = stronger flavor. Cook the chicken on the grill if you have one. Otherwise, bake it in the oven.

If the team is going out to lunch to celebrate a special occasion, then a single drink has always been fine in the teams I worked with. I don’t partake anymore because it makes me really sleepy in the afternoon.
I worked at one company that hosted a weekly happy hour. I was one of the employees who took turns setting up the kegs in the common room, and pouring drinks during the event. That was a fun place. The extra social time really improved some working relationships. And we got a surprising amount of productive work done just by talking for an hour or two while standing around sipping microbrews and wine.
kersploosh@sh.itjust.worksto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Would you have a drink at lunch and then go back to work?5·2 months agoAfter all, you can’t drink all day if you don’t start in the morning.
I was going to mention her Tiny Desk show. It’s a banger!
Women are underrepresented in a lot of roles throughout the world. It is usually due to some combination of social norms, expected gender roles, lack of opportunities, and old fashioned sexism.
It’s also possible you simply don’t see many female rappers because it’s not the music you seek out. There are lots of very talented women in the rap scene. Though they certainly do not get the attention they deserve (see the paragraph above).
Edit: to answer the second part of your question, I’ll go old school and say Rebirth of Slick by Diggable Planets. Missy Elliott and Lauren Hill are top-shelf, too. Other people here have mentioned Doechii; she’s a new star on the rise.

The choice is clear.

kersploosh@sh.itjust.worksto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Best Lemmy Server to make a Religion-based Community?15·3 months agoI do not know of any instances focusing on religious communities, but I assume most general-purpose instances would be fine with you opening a religious community. If you search communities you will find lots of existing religious ones across several of the large instances, though they are generally not very active. If you find that the community you want already exists, but is dead, consider taking it over and bringing it back to life.

kersploosh@sh.itjust.worksto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•If you became an owner of 1KG of gold. How rich does that make you compared to the rest of the world?16·3 months agoI have seen 100g gold bars available for US$10k, so you would have US$100k worth of gold.
In the wealthiest countries that’s about 4x the median annual income, so 4 years worth of wages. In the poorest countries it’s about 250 years worth of wages. This is simplistic math that does not account for purchasing power parity or other variables. But it’s safe to say this would be a massive amount of money for most of the people on earth. It would not only change the individual’s life, but would give them the ability to alter the trajectory of their children’s and grandchildren’s lives for the better.

Camera lenses back in the manual SLR days. I don’t think there’s any reason old manual-focus Nikon/Olympus/Pentax/etc. lenses needed to be brand-exclusive. The companies could have all used the same bayonet mount and all lenses would be interchangeable.
