Thanks I’ll look into it.
I already have a full backup of the entire English Wikipedia using Kiwix. It’s surprisingly small. Around 100GB.
doodledup@lemmy.worldto Privacy@lemmy.ml•Discord Begins Testing Facial Scans for Age Verification21·11 days agoIt’s not federated, the developer is specifically against federation. He didn’t even support self-hosting properly and officially, until the community made pullrequests in this regard themselves. Revolt is mainly made to be hosted by the developer himself. Probably just another Discord. Open-sourcing the code doesn’t do anything.
doodledup@lemmy.worldto Privacy@lemmy.ml•Discord Begins Testing Facial Scans for Age Verification5·11 days agoPlease give me a federated, self-hosted Discord alternative! I’m tired of these bullshit platforms.
How do I go about this? I’ve got 30TB available, 24/7 uptime. It’s not much but it might help.

This feature will fetch the page and summarize it locally. It’s not being used for training LLMs. It’s practically like the user opened your website manually and skimmed the content. If your garbage summary doesn’t work I’ll just copy your site and paste it in ChatGPT to summarize it for me. Pretty much the equivalent of what this is.
AI summaries are garbage anyway, so nothing of value is lost there.
Your ignorance annoys me. It has value to a lot of people including me so it’s not garbage. But if you make it garbage intentionally then everyone will just believe your website is garbage and not click the link after reading the summary.
doodledup@lemmy.worldto Firefox@lemmy.ml•Automatically generated page summaries as an experimental feature of Firefox 139 nightly65·17 days agoDefinitely won’t be visiting your website then if you intentionally fuck with people to make their browsing experience worse. I hate web hosters who are against the free and open internet.

I can say it’s not intrsting to me and I’d much rather see posts more deeply linked to technology and not politics here. I’m entitled to my own opinion. Let’s just leave it at that.
doodledup@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.ml•Anti-Israel protester interrupts Microsoft’s 50th anniversary party over AI contract627·25 days agoI’m unsure how this post intrigues my interests in technology. I don’t think this is related at all.
It’s like posting a 9/11 post in a Boeing community so all the Boeing nerds can learn which plane model was used. I feel like there are more relevant communities for it.
doodledup@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.ml•Anti-Israel protester interrupts Microsoft’s 50th anniversary party over AI contract523·25 days agoTechnology? I feel like this is about a genocide and not about technology.
I usually make a bookmark when I need a tab later. My bookmarks are organized. I only keep a tab open when I immediately need to use it. Like one tab of the paper I’m reading, one tab Deezer music, one tab search engine, and 1-2 tabs of sites I haven’t closed yet but I’m about to.
I have at most 5 tabs open at any time. I never even considered that someone would organize their tabs let alone in a tree hierarchy.

This is normal usage stats. Every app has that. You can opt out and you get asked when launching the app the first time. This isn’t that bad.
Has something changed? This isn’t news. Also why is this privacy related? No data is being exposed.

I don’t pirate. Just came here to say that. Thanks for considering my contribution to the thread.
