Well it took me 15 years (started in ‘89 graduated ‘04) and I’ve been in IT for almost 30 years (there was obviously some overlap). But honestly after your first job, nobody cares.

I can never not get hear him say that word when I read it. And he somehow made it sound dirty.
Edit: I should really pay attention to what stroke laden nonsense spell check has “helped” me write.
I feel you. I started coding before the internet even existed (well technically it existed, just nobody had access to it)
Isn’t all the code in git somewhere? I would totally do that for code projects.
I do the same thing with arduino code so I know where you’re coming from.
Honestly I maintain a list of file types I care about and copy those off. It’s mostly things I’ve created or specifically accumulated. Things like mp3, mkv, gcode, stl, jpeg, doc, txt, etc. Find all of those and copy them off. I also find any files over a certain size and copy them off unless they are things like library files, dlls, that sorta thing. Am I possible going to kiss something, yeah. But I’ll get most of the things I care about.
Yggdrasil In the mid 90s.
Best I can tell is it’s a normal `username@hostname current_directory$ sorta prompt with some coloring: • Red for the square brackets • Orange (color 172) for the username • Light blue (color 153) for the hostname • Amber (color 214) for the current working directory
Other than being hard to read from the embedded coloring I’m not sure why this is a war crime.
Yeah I’m gonna check this out at work next week for sure.
I love owning a home but fuck it’s expensive. Learn how to do stuff yourself is the best advice I can give you.
I have saved so much money being able to troubleshoot and repair simple things like hvac, electrical, plumbing, woodworking, etc. YouTube is amazing for learning this stuff. A good example: I recently had to replace two hvac condenser fans that would have likely cost me a $1000 a pop to fix. It’s bad enough the motors themselves were $300 a pop. Plumbing is easy if you have the right tools (pex is awesome). Electrical can be pretty easy if you’re willing to learn (I was a computer engineer in college and a system architect by trade so I get the electrical stuff). Learn how to patch holes in drywall. You’d be surprised how much you’ll be doing that. Learn how to replace a faucet. Learn how to replace the inwards of a toilet.
The great thing about a fixer upper is you can afford to make mistakes. Take your time, don’t rush it. Make little improvements all the time. It all adds up.
I had forgotten about this!! I’ll have to start up a VM this morning to check it out.
I remember a podcast I used to listen to a long time ago that argued that MS should just make a fork of the Linux kernel and just make the gui work like Windows. Better security and stability, and huge increase in user base with all the normal Linux users seeing it as viable alternative. I thought it was a brilliant idea. Well except Microsoft would likely have figured a way to kill Linux from the inside.
So… more like a butcher?
Sorta. I found this video a while back that helped me understand it. Pay attention to the clock hands part and how the movement is affected by how fast information is traveling in them. It’s basically the same idea as the stick but a different direction.
I was replying to comment the “OBGYNs are sex workers” comment. Tran surgery pics are very useful and not porn.
If you can’t follow that logic I’m not sure what to do.
Exactly.
Not sure I follow the logic since an OBGYNs job is not get you off.
If they are banning NSFW images, then that’s why.
Like I said the purpose of those images in the trans subreddits serve an educational purpose. But you probably shouldn’t be viewing it at work. If they are banning nudity, that’s nudity.
Like I said I don’t agree with the ban hammer, but it’s consistent. However, in my opinion, all it should be left as is regardless of the purpose.
Well it is genitals but the purpose is entirely different. I don’t agree with it but I can at least see the logic.
Yeah this worked out great for OnlyFans, Tumblr, and Flickr. At least OnlyFans was smart enough to remember which side their bread was buttered on.
If I’m typing into the app, is that really collecting keystrokes?
Yggdrasil somewhere around ‘93… maybe ‘94. Recompiling a kernel took a VERY long time.
I’ve been doing this a while.
