Grave of the Fireflies is too sad to cry to. It’s just pure despair, slowly killing you emotionally.

On (mobile and desktop) web and in Jerboa I only see the display name if it’s set. And the only limitation seems to be that a leading @ is not allowed.
awdsns@feddit.deto Announcements@lemmy.ml•We're the creators of Lemmy, Ask Us Anything. *Starts Monday, 7 Aug, 1500 CEST*English25·2 years agoTbh I think the display names as they currently work are dangerous. What would prevent me from setting my display name to
nutomic@lemmy.ml
? Most front-ends would not show that I’m actually not you at first glance.Edit: Misread the question as being about display names. Full unicode support for usernames would be even more dangerous, basically opening the door to unicode homograph spoofing on that level too.
awdsns@feddit.detoLemmy Support@lemmy.ml•Can't enable federation and 'private instance' at the same time on 0.18.01·2 years agoYes, that’s what this check (and the later introduced changes) are meant for. On the reasoning why this configuration is not desired I can’t comment.
awdsns@feddit.detoLemmy Support@lemmy.ml•Can't enable federation and 'private instance' at the same time on 0.18.02·2 years agoThe check giving this error is pretty old, so it seems that you got it to work was not intentional: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/blame/63d3759c481ff2d7594d391ae86e881e2aeca56d/crates/api_common/src/utils.rs#L539
As far as I can see, 0.18 and its release candidates only added additional checks preventing such an instance to be set up in the first place.
I’m not sure what exactly you’re asking, but I’ll assume it’s not the standard “I can’t find this remote community” question, as your fourth search result is from the exact community you’re searching for… and has a direct clickable link to the community as federated to your instance (in green).
If you want a direct link as a search result to the community, search for it’s URL on its home instance, e.g. here https://lemmy.ml/c/lemmy_support
You can get this via the link under the community header on the left, where it says “Lemmy Support” and underneath has the hyperlink “!lemmy_support@lemmy.ml”. Click that link or copy its URL.

I understand the sentiment of leaving a final “fuck you” to Reddit, but at the same time the thought of losing the treasure trove of accumulated knowledge stored there pains me.
awdsns@feddit.deto Lemmy@lemmy.ml•I wrote a bot to import reddit posts from Lemmy to help with the transition. Is this allowed?2·2 years agoI was thinking of something like that too, but probably never would’ve gotten around to implement it myself, so thanks! Could you put your script on Github or something maybe?
Also it would be great if it could copy at least top-level comments by OP, because that’s often used for linking to a source.

It doesn’t really matter much which one, you will still be able to interact with communities across different instances.
One of those shows that just got better and better for me as it went on. The movie (The First Kiss That Never Ends) feels like great payoff for all the development between Kaguya and Shirogane.
On Crunchyroll the movie is available split into 4 episodes, as it was aired on Japanese TV I think, and listed as another “season”. That’s maybe why the other commenter thought that you’ve seen it already if you finished the series.
awdsns@feddit.deOPto Anime@lemmy.ml•Mahou Shoujo Magical Destroyers - Episode 10 discussion3·2 years agoI wanted to comment that now the cat is out of the bag that Shobon is writing the script for this show, but the next episode preview has me second-guessing myself again. You just never know with this show.
But some foreshadowed details seem to be coming together, with the super drugs Otaku hero and the girls got from the old geezer apparently being a trap and Shobon’s magical girls being something like evil twins of Anarchy, Blue and Pink.
And they also went really meta again with all the talk about death flags.
awdsns@feddit.deOPto Anime@lemmy.ml•Tonikaku Kawaii / TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For You - Season 2 Episode 10 Discussion2·2 years agoI wasn’t much of a fan of the first season, but I’m enjoying this one much more. There’s been some clear development in Tsukasa’s and Nasa’s relationship with how they’re being more open with each other. That shows both in how they are sometimes teasing each other and in how they are more comfortable being affectionate.
awdsns@feddit.deOPto Anime@lemmy.ml•Tonikaku Kawaii / TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For You - Season 2 Episode 10 Discussion3·2 years agoThis was somehow both the lewdest and most wholesome episode so far at the same time!
Nasa biting Tsukasas ear and the noises she made in reaction was almost hentai-level lol.
But Nasa reminiscing on how he and Tsukasa met and Tsukasa explaining why she asked him to marry her was really romantic.
I tried mentioning and linking this community on /r/anime and got my comments deleted because advertising other communities is not allowed there. But after messaging the mods about it, they seem to be aware of the need for an alternative that isn’t Discord and seem to be cooking something up as a contingency for an /r/anime exodus.
Just mentioning Lemmy in general seems to be fine though and has been done several times in the blackout thread.
Yes, I watched it (the first season at least) and quite liked it. It’s what brought on this post basically. I had decided to watch it when I was looking for my next idol anime after my “gateway drug” Zombieland Saga, and the connection to that via Minami Tanaka, and also that I vaguely remembered Yoshino Aoyama was part of it, were what gave the impulse.
There are also a few Wake Up, Girls! anime movies that I couldn’t watch yet, and a continuation series “Shin Sou”. The drastically altered character designs in the latter unfortunately felt off-putting to me, after the more realistic style of the first season.
