Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is celebrating birthdays much important for you?English
4·1 day agoYeah it always feels awkward getting people to celebrate me. Like “hey guys lets have a party where you give me gifts and celebrate my existence”. Seems weirdly presumptuous

2·1 day agoYou don’t have to get your friends involved, you can just do something nice for her. Just pretend that its Mothers Day or something

41·2 days agoIf you don’t want to celebrate your birthday, you can take the day to celebrate your mom. She’s the one who did all the work, after all. And I think pushing an entire human being out of your birth canal is worthy of some recognition.
I doubt they would bother going after a one person instance, even if it could be traced back to you

I’m out of the loop. What happened there?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Will Lemmy/ the fediverse become age verified platforms?English
2·4 days agoOk so I stand corrected. I guess it is possible but it just requires a lot of man power

2·5 days agowe already see a phenomenon going on with Fediverse, and Web as a whole: invite-only and/or need-to-apply places
The need-to-apply model would be totally unscalable for traditional social media platforms because of the sheer number of requests that would need to be processed on a centralized. But something like this can work on the Fediverse because you can split the workload up between different instances

51·6 days agoIt’s better from a privacy perspective. But yeah, you’d still ultimately be using ChatGTP at the end of the day so another model might be preferable

473·6 days agoI recommend duck.ai as an alternative way of accessing ChatGTP. Is not a perfect solution but it’s better than accessing it straight from the OpenAI website
Interesting. It would also make sense that going full FOSS might lead to less social media use indirectly, since most social media apps would require micro-G

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How to find communication on the Internet when bots cannot be distinguished from real people?English
4·9 days agoI’ve tested my local AI and it’s almost indistinguishable from humans in communication style
Why are AIs like ChatGTP so easy to spot then? Is it just the fine tuning?

5·10 days agoAs far as I can tell, Signal can’t do multiple text channels in the same way discord can. Migrating a Discord ‘server’ onto a Signal chat would only work if it were a small group. Anything bigger than that would basically just give you a really big and disorganized group chat (though it would at least be a private disorganized group chat).
Why did you two opt for XMPP rather than Signal Messenger?
