You have encouraged me to download a Peertube client. … Honestly I love that you can float between clients / interfaces depending on what you want to do.

At the moment Im using Fedilab . since its easy to switch between Friendica and Mastodon and Pixelfed accounts. But I also dip into Jerboa and often use the Friendica web interface.
I’ve ended up moving to Friendica as my primary Fedi account because I can get Lemmy communities, RSS and Pixelfed, Mastodon and other ActivityFed accounts all from the one account.
I still drip into Lemmy directly ( Like now ) because I haven’t added all my subscribed communities… and actually I haven’t added any Perrtune ones yet. I gotta find some to watch.
What I would love is if Fedilab or other held a buffer of recent posts from Frendica on my phone for when I’m stuck on a plane.
Oh hmm Ill try and find out .
Maybe a dumb thought but I just realised if Lemmy does RSS maybe I could add Lemmy feeds to my Friendica account. ??
You can turn on Firefox’s offer to translate sites in another language in Settings > Translation

abeorch@lemmy.mlOPto Self Hosted - Self-hosting your services.@lemmy.ml•Migrating emails from Gmail to new email server2·6 months agoYeah . I dont think we will move their primary.email addresses from Gmail but mainly use their accounts for identity purposes with self hosting and backup / storage of emails rather than paying Google.
Who knows though …I meqn on q VPS im using an email server at moment to collaborate work with friends. It wouldn’t be mission critical … just family critical.

I don’t use tags alot and neither do the users I would migrate

I am not sure if this is possible but at the moment they just have gmail accounts but would move to a email with a custom domain - Im tempted to use Yunohost but worried about running my own email server and the responsibility that would come with that but also the size of the email accounts, Id also prefer that Yunohost had scheduled Backups to an external location in place.

abeorch@lemmy.mlOPto Self Hosted - Self-hosting your services.@lemmy.ml•Migrating emails from Gmail to new email server3·6 months agoCheers. Ill have a look . I suspect we will just be using a hosting providers email rather than dedicated email service. (Ideally Id like to run own email server but I have heard that can be a real struggle to keep emails being delivered)
I use A free tier vps running Ubuntu on Oracle cloud pay as you go account. I installed #Yunohost with my own domain name pointing to the VPS public IP. Inwas running in about ten minutes.

abeorch@lemmy.mlto Fediverse@lemmy.ml•Raccoon for Friendica, the mobile client for Friendica and Mastodon has landed on F-Droid1·6 months agoHmm Im having trouble logging in to an account on my own server. Might have to investigate further…
Also Cant see anything about acouch to 5K being open source either and its a NHS BBC collaboration . https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/get-running-with-couch-to-5k/
Is NHS weight loss app open source ( I mean its free and paid for by the National Health Service ij the UK so probably shoukd be ) https://www.nhs.uk/better-health/lose-weight/
Given that you can add Lemmy users in Mastodon / Friendica I think you can follow them from an account on any of those. Lets see as I follow my Lemmy account on friendica.
Im also going to mention https://collective.tools/product/collective-tools-groups/ which I think is a service based on coopcloud.tech
Federated.computer says their user manager is Ldap based
There are a few Discourse based forums that I asked the admins about whether they would put the ActivityPub plugin for Discourse on their server but I didnt hear back.
A Lemmy Plugin for Discourse would be great as I the two are quite aligned. I think there might be some concerns about people from Lemmy Instances becoming members oof the forum or posting but I could see it being done on a listen only or trusted lemmy servers only basis.
