I need to remember this as someone who can lucid dream but still has the occasional nightmare loops that lead to awful sleep.

How about book clubs? I’m in a couple, and my neighborhood has monthly silent book clubs (bookended with socializing time). Both an opportunity to socialize during meetups, and a great way to occupy your time in between.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Type-2 Diabetics of Lemmy: What were some of your symptoms that you only realized after your diagnosis were symptoms of diabetes?
3·6 months agoMan, I have my diabetes under control now (6.0 A1C) but never stopped peeing all the time. I can’t remember the last night of sleep I got with less than a few bathroom visits. Didn’t help I had to get on a diuretic for my blood pressure.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you use 1 stick of deodorant until it runs out or do you have a few different scents you switch between?
3·7 months agoUnscented soap/deodorant and a splash of my favorite cologne.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•If you found someone attractive, would you date them if you found out they were trans?
3·8 months agoLikely not. I’m a cis straight man who tends to be into women who aren’t into men, so while particularly feminine women aren’t my thing, the parts matter to me in terms of dating/having sex. Fully post-op and passing would certainly consider, but I know that’s not always the goal for trans folks.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•thick skinned employees, how can you be so thick skinned?
3·8 months agoGetting older and finding anxiety meds that actually worked for me here. It’s vastly improved my social life, especially around asking people out. There’s literally no downside or reason to be nervous about it.
Not many. My phone is typically on Do not Disturb when I’m not working, and a custom focus mode I call Deep Work when I am working. The primary difference just being focus filters so I can use the same calendar/email app I like but not see anything work related outside regular work hours. I’ll check in on my notifications somewhat regularly, but basically nothing can actually ping me.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How do you personally get over a very awkward social interaction?
2·10 months agoMaybe not for everyone, but it’s pale blue dot for me.
I really need to get a frog and toad tattoo.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is it normal feeling tired 2 days in a row, possibly 3, after catching a cold?
16·10 months agoTotally normal. Just don’t worry about it, get plenty of rest/fluids, and keep up those outdoor walks.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Been job searching for a year and no luck. What to I do now?
12·1 year agoWhat is your BA in?
This is a great writeup on this, thanks for sharing. I’ll at least link my friends who are convinced this is happening so they won’t read it.
We had a guy at the place I worked a few jobs ago who did nothing but slowly single-finger peck out regexes all day. His job title was “SEO Guru”.
100%. I’m trying to swear less just to avoid the punctuation-level swearing that feels childish to me. But replacement swear words that have the same sentiment feel even more childish and pointless to me.
We even have sea unicorns, land unicorns don’t seem too far fetched.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Whats been the toughest addiction to beat for you?
6·1 year agoI’m slightly younger (born in 86) but went through a similar thought process a couple of years back. I remembered being an avid reader as a kid but could barely make it through a book or two a year, and struggled to maintain any form of attention span. I forced myself to read more for about the first month, then I got addicted to it again and ended up reading 42 books that year. I’m very conscious now about pretty much always having my devices in some form of focus mode/app time limits and prioritizing focus/reading time. I feel much better.

Big fan of a slow disapproving head shake and a thumbs down. Especially in road rage situations (or any time I see a Cybertruck).
