That one is cool and the one of Half-Life by quadrazid (segmented but still amazing)

Just plain old regular Mint.
I wrote it here some time ago. Tried Linux Mint with the intention of finally switching from windows on my notebook. Bricked one partition that I forgot I had set to dynamic, Headphone jacks didn’t work even after fiddling around with arcane parameters in the cli. If you mainly need the command line to set your system up and stuff doesn’t work out of the box people don’t have the nerve to switch and learn all that. Love Linux, great on steamdeck, have a couple of Virtual Machines to play around with on my old Poweredge server but it’s not ready for me, the average user. That and I’ve to use windows for my cad work at my job anyways. I’ll take the downvotes but you’ll have to realize you are tech savvy people who have fun learning all that. Most people don’t.
As a German I might be able to help. It’s an old term and means ‘a whales vagina’.
TalesFromTheKitchen@lemmy.mlto Steam@lemmy.ml•Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 support will end tomorrow (January 1st 2024)1·1 year agoI did that prior and decided I like it, so I did a proper install. I just didn’t try the sound jacks and didn’t notice one of my drives not mounting.
TalesFromTheKitchen@lemmy.mlto Steam@lemmy.ml•Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 support will end tomorrow (January 1st 2024)4·1 year agoYes, all the important stuff was backed up naturally. Still lost some, I’d say “nostalgic old files” It just happens when you have large drives you can’t just back it up without paying lots.
TalesFromTheKitchen@lemmy.mlto Steam@lemmy.ml•Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 support will end tomorrow (January 1st 2024)101·1 year agoHaha, yeah, as I’ve learned. I’ll try again when I build a new machine. I really like the overall look and feel of Mint.
TalesFromTheKitchen@lemmy.mlto Steam@lemmy.ml•Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 support will end tomorrow (January 1st 2024)345·1 year agoI tried. I finally wanted to switch away from Windows and installed mint. Spent about 3 hours trying to get my headphone jacks to work with some mildly obscure tools and commands but no dice. Then I managed to destroy one of my partitions by trying to Mount it but it gave me an obscure error. Searched the forums and found NTFS fix, well turns out I accidentally had turned the partition dynamic when moving it to a larger drive. NTFS fix didn’t like that and promptly destroyed the file table. I lost a buch of data. So back to the cruddy Windows then…I’m not tech savvy enough, which is sad.
He’d get the special fx award for his motion graphics.

TalesFromTheKitchen@lemmy.mlto Privacy@lemmy.ml•New policy requires Chinese influencers to display their personal information on Weibo10·2 years agoPublic facing. Has to be “viewable in two or less clicks”, so for example in your about page. Thats what is so spicy about this. I’ve got a YouTube channel but “luckily” not enough viewers to monetize, I’d hate to put my info out there for everyone to mess with.
TalesFromTheKitchen@lemmy.mlto Privacy@lemmy.ml•New policy requires Chinese influencers to display their personal information on Weibo2·2 years agoYep, stupid me copied the wrong link, updated now with the proper one.
TalesFromTheKitchen@lemmy.mlto Privacy@lemmy.ml•New policy requires Chinese influencers to display their personal information on Weibo2·2 years agoHmm I don’t think so? Not sure but it is this article
TalesFromTheKitchen@lemmy.mlto Privacy@lemmy.ml•New policy requires Chinese influencers to display their personal information on Weibo32·2 years agoYeah I meant it more like Germany doesn’t do it for the same reasons as China.
TalesFromTheKitchen@lemmy.mlto Privacy@lemmy.ml•New policy requires Chinese influencers to display their personal information on Weibo22·2 years agoI know its not the same thing but in Germany you have something called “Impressumspflicht” for everything you publish online if you intend to monetize it in any way. For example you have to specify your full name and address, an email address and your phone number if you run a YouTube channel or twitch.
Haha, yeah, sounds about right! No neurons, yet so determined.
To me Macrophages are the single most interesting creatures(symbiotes?) in the human body. I’ve read so much about them yet know so little.
Next we’ll learn that Roombas aren’t actually robots...
