But captive axolotls are not really true axolotls, they are different from the near extinct wild ones (they have a bit of tiger salamander mixed in). And this really only holds true if people breed their wild-caught aquatic animals - otherwise you are just grabbing a living being from its home and putting it in a tiny cage. There is a place for wild caught fish, but it doesn’t seem very kind to remove them from their habitat to languish in an aquarium for a fraction of their normal lifespan, which is undoubtedly what happens a lot…
I often just fail until it gets embarrassingly or super inconveniently bad. My only strategy that was ever even a little helpful was breaking the task into tiny micro 5 minute tasks and writing them all down, and doing a few of those at a time. I had adhd though, and am hoping medication will help with that (so far it has a bit).

Slowy@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is it a bad idea to introduce a new kitten to a house where there is already an older cat?25·1 year agoAs others have said, you need to take your cat not peeing very very seriously, it can quickly become a several thousand dollar surgery or ICU stay, and it can even be fatal, if your cat is that stressed I think you need to temporarily remove the kitten at least and try again more gradually and with the advice others have given. But for now you need to take your cat to the vet asap.
Another question - you said things are going backwards. When do you feel that things were better, and what made that time practically better in terms of not objectifying people?
Is it? Or is it to allow people to indulge in and express sexuality outside of a relationship? I don’t think it has a singular purpose of objectifying people. If people take it that way I think it’s more indicative of a problem with their attitude that they may need help to reframe.
Do violent shows or horror movies make you feel human life is worth less because it shows people getting hurt or murdered?
I agree that doesn’t seem healthy. Misogyny is nothing new, though, and in your post you said people are reducing themselves to sexual objects but the example is people reducing others to sexual objects, which is not really the fault or necessarily the intention of the person being objectified
In what way do you see embracing sexuality as contradictory to being a whole human? Can you give examples?

I see this happen to people who feel they just don’t have enough time to get everything done that they need to, and therefore any little delay causes a lot of stress. If you can offload some chores or reduce your activity load that may be some help. But there are other reasons for irritability as well.
Also a lot of typhoid and stomach flu type pathogens don’t spread butthole to butthole, they spread via the “fecal-oral” route so… that happens in situations like someone took too small a slice and touches your food (or receipt that you ate to prove they liked your gift) without washing their hands properly.

But I try to avoid associating my real name with my username, don’t post photos of myself on it, etc. I don’t doubt it’s possible though, and I’m sure something like that would prompt me to change all instances of that username.
Lol 😂 you nailed it
This meme format needs to die, sexist bs
Slowy@lemmy.worldto Green - An environmentalist community @lemmy.ml•Zoos aren’t for animals. They’re for us. | Zoos say they’re leaders in protecting wildlife. But is it true?English4·2 years agoIt depends on the species. It’s one thing to neuter a giraffe but if you have a flock of peacocks or a colony of 40 bats you are probably not going to do surgery on all of them, it’s also very hard on some of the smaller animals. Making an effort to keep only females or males would be an option for some species but not all, as they won’t always show their full range of behaviour.
The article does point out a lot of it is small rodents, but also things like tadpoles or fish. It can be extremely difficult to control their breeding (or even identify their sex without cutting them open) yet detrimental to their welfare to allow them to be overstocked. The real solution here is probably not invasive birth control techniques (even restraining an animal to pill them can be very taxing), it is more effort to share surplus animals with other zoos, wildlife refuges, wild release etc with particular attention to those that are prone to being culled. But again, transport is a huge stressor for animals, so you have to consider that the potential benefit to them should be more than the risk of worse welfare.
How, when you have no energy and time?
