Open Source@lemmy.ml•Any open source Android app for tracking sleep?
4·2 months agoTrack sleep how?
I know smartwatches track your sleep when you wear them at night through sensors, how would you do it with a phone, or do you mean tracking in a different way?

Open Source@lemmy.ml•NoPeek - free open source Android app that detects nearby Meta Ray-Ban glasses and VR headsets via Bluetooth
2·3 months agoIzzy is a repo for fdroid, on Izzy they can still host your app even if it isn’t RB. Also, they just scan places like github releases and post your apps automatically for you, while fdroid only includes it if you submit it first.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•NoPeek - free open source Android app that detects nearby Meta Ray-Ban glasses and VR headsets via Bluetooth
7·3 months agoFdroid requires app to be RB (reproducible build) which is good cuz it mean the apk developer release should be identical to a build you make from source code.
My issue was that updating or adding a library to my app could break RB which can be a simple fix, but would require either waiting for pull request to be merged or forking yourself.
It just becomes a game of Guess Who to find who is at fault for RB issues. Maybe it’s just a flutter thing and isn’t an issue with kotlin apps, idk.
IzzyOnDroid is a great fallback

1·4 months agoWhy…?
You want a chatgpt like app but combined with all your apps? I’m genuinely curious to what your goal is here.
That movie was a masterpiece

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Opensource android alternative for spotify/youtube music
3·4 months agoIn the README under Acknowledgements, they credit Metrolist for base framework.
In other news, I’m satisfied with metrolist so I don’t see a need to switch, has been a much better experience than spotube even before their refactor cuz of Spotify lawyers.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Why isn't there a Windows community? Is Linux winning?
112·5 months agoIdk how many people I have met who don’t know what windows is despite using it for years. For them it is Mac and PC (pc meaning windows), anything outside of that is black magic or hacker stuff.

F-Droid@lemmy.ml•Whst clock or alarm app do you use? Clock You has some bugs
4·9 months agoI had issues with chrono on graphene, I wanted it to work so bad, but it kept getting stuck on start splash screen and even when you close, force close, clear cache, clear data, and reboot phone, it wouldn’t work only after deleting and reinstalling. Also alarms were being 5-20 minutes late, often, depsite doing everything to keep app alive.
I use fossify clock currently, haven’t had an issue.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Which Linux distro would you say that fits me best? Do you think the LLM got it right?
4·10 months agoMost people don’t know what a DE is or how to change it and training wheels are best kept on till they get the hang of all the things.
Everyone is different and learning should be in small steps rather than leaps. Always ask yourself, can my mom do this?

Linux@lemmy.ml•Which Linux distro would you say that fits me best? Do you think the LLM got it right?
3·10 months agoJust cuz KDE works well on one distro, doesn’t mean it works well on others (idk why it’s weird like that). Another thing is that sometimes it’s nice when everything is setup out of the box with no need to configure anything except theme and wallpaper.
I get most Linux users like to rice the crap out of there systems, but sometimes you just need to get work down and don’t have time for that.
Also also, there are times software maintainers don’t always release versions for your distro and not everyone wants to compile things themselves, or rewrite scripts cuz author only made it with Debian distros in mind, or something.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Which Linux distro would you say that fits me best? Do you think the LLM got it right?
232·10 months agoIf you lack experience with Linux and want a more windows like UI, then go with Linux mint, you will eventually distro hop either way so start off with the easy option and enjoy it as much you can before trying new things.
Black mirror is so good at what it does that I can’t even watch it due to how uncomfortable it makes me feel. I have never seen a show or movie do that to me. Horror movies are children shows in comparison to Black Mirror, real nightmare fuel.
Oh wow I wasn’t aware, I have only been to Sweden and Finland for a day each on a Cruise trip my friends dragged me on
I still don’t like the social credit thing, but I at the same time I wouldnt mind moving to Sweden from the US if I had the chance

Any apps that were on play store already get automatically added to the verified list without them even asking you.
