How do you make it work? I’ve been in a few but after a while the heartache from missing them gets unbearable.
Pelicanen@sopuli.xyzto Privacy@lemmy.ml•Open letter: Mass surveillance and undermining encryption still on table in EU Council - European Digital Rights (EDRi)3·1 year agoI think part of it is a fundamental weakness in the Swedish judicial system where you need clear perpetrators and clear victims, meaning that if you have a group of people committing a crime and you can’t prove that they intentionally cooperated to commit the criminal act or who did exactly what, they may go free (exhibit A). The same goes if you can prove the crime but not the victims (exhibit B).
Of course the bar is higher when it comes to the police, they will pull out all the stops to prevent one of their own getting investigated, but this issue runs even deeper.

I think the exact opposite, ML is good for automating away the trivial, repetitive tasks that take time away from development but they have a harder time with making a coherent, maintainable architecture of interconnected modules.
It is also good for data analysis, for example when the dynamics of a system are complex but you have a lot of data. In that context, the algorithm doesn’t have to infer a model that matches reality completely, just one that is close enough for the region of interest.
Yes, in the US. The commenter above was talking about more than just one country.
My go-to song for turning into a sobbing mess on the floor is Sting (feat. Ray Chen) - What Could Have Been. Hits very hard.
Yes, and a force acting in the opposite direction of the distance is an attractive force.
If they are oppositely charged particles, I would expect that there is a force of attraction acting on them, yes.
Depends on the trash. Depends on the shit.
Well, no, but we’re all made out of atoms but I don’t think anyone would say that a human and an equivalent pile of raw material are the same.
Local minimum, not a global minimum. Evolution is one long autoregressive process.
In Finland they’re just called French. Plural.
It’s possible to ruin the planet enough that the things supporting life, the ozone layer and the atmosphere for example, are wrecked beyond repair and that the planet becomes permanently lifeless. Sure, technically the planet will still exist, but so will every other dead rock in space.
Not if we nuke it all into an irradiated wasteland in desperation.
They were in the Eurovision this year (and unfortunately came last) but the Norwegian band Gåte. Their songs Skarvene and Hamløypar are two of my favorites, and Bannlyst is also fantastic.
