So communism and nazism gave birth to Palestine? Wtf!? I’m having a really big mental block…
But regarding the chinese government, I’m not sure we can call it communist anymore. Authoritarian, imperialist, oppressive and bellicose are more accurate qualifiers; mainly thanks to president Xi.
Most laptops will be more or less fully compatible with linux I think. Though a few niche features like finger print or key card readers might be a hassle to get working. To me, the most important thing is the keyboard since some manufacturers forgo the end of/start of line buttons, for instance.

My only satisfaction was that I’d be able to open a union division in the company. I would have been able to better the working conditions of my colleagues (and mine!) while learning the work of a union representative. Sadly they fired me before I could do that. But now I found a paying job in a non-profit organization and I feel like a human being again!

Meaning that Arch doesn’t hold your hand with nice GUIs. Instead, it tries to make the command line interface as easy to understand and use as possible. So if you run into a problem, you’re more likely to understand how to fix it, or at least what the root cause is. Which is not a given when you’re used to distros with more abstraction like Ubuntu. Then again, this design concept is not for everyone.

Hang on a minute, there’s a plan to purchase a pizza over 6 weeks!? Do I understand that right? And no one is asking why people need a morgage to buy food!?

I started using linux seriously with Manjaro, but since I didn’t know what AUR really was I fucked my system up (thank NVIDIA drivers for that). Then I switched to arch, learned everything I should have known on the arch wiki. So yeah, I use arch btw.
Then again, the archlinux wiki and forums are the best places to get every kind of help a linux user might need. And this is true for every distribution, to some extent.
Oh boy I’m no social democrat. A radical socialist if you prefer. You can have radical ideas like ending capitalism or taxing inheritance to 100% while still being for democracy and not being a revolutionary.
I consider myself a socialist/leftist and my primary concern right now is not to dominate the bourgeoisie. It’s mainly to get them to stop tax evasion so we can fund our public schools and hospitals. And if they could stop voting for candidates who are in coalition with the far right that’d be nice too!
Well I’d say communism is a type of socialism, where the latter is the ideal to strive for a better society for everyone, to intervene to help those who cannot help themselves. Communism tries to achieve this goal by making the means of production into communal ownership. With the State enforcing strict wealth equality. But it’s still socialism with economic inequality at the beginning but fair and strong wealth redistribution in the end: equity.
I’d even replace communism with socialism. Since it’s also vilified in the US, but it’s a broader term which is, to me, more relevant nowadays.
Yeah I know, like sbin isn’t used in most modern distros, right?
My main reason to use arch is the exceptionnally complete and useful arch wiki. Though many pages are useful for other distros as well. With the archlinux and package install guides, it’s just a matter of time (and study!) until you know how to get around.
