Didn’t make a claim, just expressed my doubts of the data. Data gets parroted from one “source” to another without proper investigation into the original source of data. I don’t have all the time in the world like all those on here to dive into all the articles discussing it, I’m not an investigative journalist, but how’s this for confirming my doubts:

Does having money owed on a house mean that they own the home? No. 80% of families own their homes. The rest of the articles bring up data point after data point that makes the claim hard to believe and goes into explaining why the home ownership is so high.

I’m allowed to express opinions based on gut feelings without having to waste my lunch hour digging up sources to back it up, and no, it’s not based on any “western-supremacist biases”, just seeing how the numbers don’t seem to add up. It still feels high honestly with other data points brought up in that article, like how high the average house costs versus the wages in that area, but whatever, I’m out of time before I have to go back to work.

Right? I call BS that 90% of China’s 1.4+ billion people own their homes.

I’m with you. If they’re verifying the information request, as in vetting it to determine if there is actual criminal behavior going on i.e. pedos/money laundering/etc, then good. Hand them over to the authorities.

They state that they don’t cater to corrupt governments or organizations - good.

Everyone here arguing against these things are throwing up major red flags. Didn’t the CEO just go to court because he wasn’t handing over information willy nilly? I would hope Signal and Proton would be doing the same things.

The alternatives are:

• Windows based solution: will be super bloated, locked down preventing customizability, and will try to obtain as much data on you as possible to sell to advertisers, I’m sure among other reasons others here will gladly point out.
• MacOS based solution: Even more locked down than a Windows based solution, hardware may even be more proprietary so good luck swapping out components yourself to fix it, and will try to obtain as much data on you as possible to sell to advertisers.
• iOS: same reasons as MacOS, with the exception of it not being as locked down.
• Android based solution: is controlled by Google and therefore will try to obtain as much data on you as possible to sell to advertisers.

Alternatives to Linux like other Unix based systems, FreeBSD, etc. I don’t know enough about, so whether or not it would be better on this kind of a product I don’t know.
