Fedora Atomic desktops, specifically Kinoite with KDE6 works well for me, and is basically unbreakable due to the way it works.

Yeah, not going to happen.
JASN_DE@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•Newbie here again! How do I keep permission only users, like media, or radarr, from showing up on the login screen? It's just kind of unnecessary and cluttery... and it bothers me.5·3 months agoWhich distro, which DE? Or any details at all.
Vaultwarden works really well for me.
You’d need basically a small server rack filled with datacenter GPUs. Expect mid to high 5 digit numbers.
But: running smaller models on a typical gaming GPU is quite doable.

JASN_DE@lemmy.worldto Open Source@lemmy.ml•Why is the web browser discussion such a sore topic?35·6 months agosurely if Web Devs tell them to go pound sand, or intentionally break the site when using Google Chrome, and put a message saying, “Go to Firefox / Safari for a better experience”, that will make Google backtrack.
Riiight… User will surely do that instead of simply never visiting your site again.

JASN_DE@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•Recommend a laptop with good GNU/Linux support for a 3D artist4·6 months agoDell laptops usually have good Linux support, and they offer powerful machines, requirements and budget permitting.
What kind of machine is this, laptop? Desktop? If desktop, check the cables. Otherwise I’d switch out the drive.
Docker Gitea to Docker Forgejo was basically using a different image and pointing it to the existing database. Not sure if and when both will be different enough for that to no longer work. But I also only use it as a docker compose storage repository. No idea about automation etc.
JASN_DE@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•is it possible to run a pair of proprietary wireless earbuds on a debian 12.7?48·8 months agoWhat do you mean, “proprietary”? Don’t they connect via Bluetooth?
Did they learn nothing from the Boaty McBoatface disaster?
No, why? That’s capitalism for you. It’s still a US company/subsidiary, just with a German owner.
And you think this behavior magically goes away just because it’s a different language?
“Toastbrotmann” ist jetzt auch nicht wirklich die beste Verkleidung.
a motivated group of talented Rust OS developers could build a Linux-compatible kernel, from scratch, very quickly, with no need to engage in LKML politics
Riiight… Because those developers would always be of the same opinion… Good luck with that.
any sane people would same the same about a map covering the whole world, and yet there is openstreetmap.
No sorry, that’s a completely different amount of data. Look at how large (or rather, how comparatively tiny) the OSM data set is. Now see how much photo data you’d get for that amount.
While I can see the appeal, it would probably need what amounts to a different system, I.e. not Lemmy.
