A 32 year old trans girl living without easy access to trans affirming care. On DIY-HRT for the last 6 years. She/they please, preferably she/her. Will not tolerate transphobia or bigotry of any kind.
Before you ask, yes I do have an eyepatch in real life. I’m completely blind in my left eye.

Being trans isn’t a choice and our society already stigmatizes being trans so people deny it or won’t accept it and make up dumb excuses to not accept the fact they are a trans girl. But people need to come out because being closeted isn’t healthy, and the sooner the better. Why are you so against trans people coming out and accepting themselves as trans?

Gender is not bullshit, gender is real and trans people are real. Stop spreading stupid anti-trans rhetoric. People who feel and express a certain gender are more likely to be that gender, even if that gender doesn’t align with their assigned gender at birth.
Because gender is not a construct you stupid TERF, gender is real and trans people are real. Get that through your thick head.

I’m sorry I wasn’t entirely clear, BIG server, with open sign-ups. The complaints about finding people aren’t really valid when we have big servers like this one or mastodon.social. Such servers have the best reach and the easiest onboarding. Pick those.
Your example with YouTube is not an anti-spam measure, it’s them trying to restrict and create exclusivity with their content, they’re just lying and calling it anti-spam. I think it’s better to have some annoying automated spam defense like Reddit and the gang does than it is to be judged on my worth and denied because I’m not interesting enough or meet some dumb criteria to join the exclusive clubs Lemmys are slowly becoming fuck that.
It is, I don’t go on Reddit anymore, it’s insanely toxic. I’ve gotten all I could’ve gotten from there anyway. I only use Lemmy nowadays.
Just pick an open one, that’s the easiest choice. No essays, no worrying about being denied, easy.
Just pick one, you’re thinking too hard. I just picked one that’s open because I didn’t want to write an essay about myself to prove my worth and get someone to accept me, because I know that there isn’t any reason why anyone would accept me over someone else (I’m a nobody). I hate the idea of someone else having to review my worth before being allowed to sign up, what a disgusting concept. “Oh it’s to stop spam 🤓” All the other sites have been dealing with Spam good enough without asking me to prove my worth to them, maybe the Fediverse should take some pointers from the big boys at Big tech, they seem to be doing better than you are when it comes to this.
They may be aggressive in their methods but they are one of if not the most trans friendly servers in the fediverse. Mostly because they ban people for bigotry and apologists of transphobes. I mean you are a cis person, saying that a space is unfriendly to transphobes because they are a bit on the aggressive side and ban people for bigotry that is real but you don’t see or understand why it is bigotry. It really isn’t your place to tell us trans people that a space meant for trans people is unfriendly to trans people.
Lemmy.world sucks these days, their moderation is poor, and they seem to allow all kinds of bigots and trolls. Someone told me they believe strongly in freedom of speech, this is what it gets them.
If going with lemmy.zip I recommend staying out of most of their local communities, a mod there who runs a good amount of the local communities on lemmy.zip is a transphobia apologist, maybe it won’t bother some people or won’t be an issue to them but generally I find that hanging out in communities run by people like that doesn’t end well when they eventually use their mod powers to push an agenda.
Yeah, and Reddit is one of the most toxic cesspits out there, they only banned subs like fatpeoplehate and itsafetish because of being advertiser friendly. If they hadn’t complained those subs probably still would be up spouting hateful garbage.
My guess is he considers himself an ally and thinks A is for ally lol
Admins indeed can deal with these users, by deleting their content from their instances, and banning them from the site, if they are homed on that specific instance they get banned everywhere when that happens. So it can be dealt with but it takes work from our admins, and since these are communities run by real people and not monolithic corporations, we can speak up and make a difference. Reach out to these admins who are real people.
It does have all the worst qualities of Reddit, including the hate speech and the hateful downvotes, I saw many people on Reddit heavily downvoted in unrelated threads because they were openly trans on their profile. I’ve unfortunately seen the same thing on Lemmy from Lemmy.world comment sections and that’s just in the first 5 days of being here.
No, there is a big difference between trying to help someone discover themselves and denying a person’s gender identity. To argue that they are the same is Transphobic TERF garbage meant to spread the idea that being trans is wrong or abnormal.
You are right to acknowledge that this will never be productive. Arguing with TERFs rarely is.
