  • Not even just that, but modern vehicles make it a pain in the ass to just put your wipers up before a snow storm. Used to be you just lift them up and they’re done. Now you have to get in the car, hold the wiper stalk up to the manual wipe mode and let them go up before you can get back out and lift them. I know it’s for aerodynamics hiding them under the cowel but it’s still a pain in the ass. My last 2 cars have had this feature.

Once RiF announced it would shut down due to the API changes I made my account here. I only used Reddit on mobile so just staying on old.reddit wasn’t an option. Tried a few different apps for Lemmy and landed on Sync since I can set it up as close to RiF as I could, but with improvements like sliding to up vote.

It’s a much better place here, and I actually comment more here than I ever did on Reddit due to the toxicity and just getting buried by bot accounts. My account was 12 years old when I left, now I’ve been here over a year and don’t plan on leaving any time soon. You’re stuck with me now

First thing I did when buying my '21 Toyota was remove the fuse giving power to the cellular modem. Is it still recording my data? Of course, but that’s only a worry if I go to their dealership for service. If I ever need to actually do that (recalls for example) I’ll remove the DCM module from the vehicle before bringing it in. There’s a very good local shop near me that I’ll bring it to for normal maintenance before letting Toyota plug in to the car and download my data.

Some vehicles this may not be possible, so if this concerns you, check forums about your vehicle if it is a moving spy machine before trying this because you might end up causing the vehicle to be put in limp mode because of some BS design choices.

Funny thing is, I don’t own a printer, so when I need documents printed I go to the local library. Their computers run Linux, and of all the times I’ve gone to get a print done it’s been an extremely flawless experience. No fuss, no hassle, just load up the document and print it.
