  • I watched a few gameplay videos, but nothing educational. I was just looking for a demo to see what it played like and figured the game would guide me the rest of the way. I’m being completely honest, I never figured out how to play with anyone else. I went to the main room, picked my mission, shot down by myself and died repeatedly. I never thought to try the quick play option. I promise I’m not trolling or trying to yuck anyone else’s yum, I just don’t think I’m made for the game or the game is made for me.

I definitely appreciate the info you gave me. If I ever do decide to give it another shot, I’ll keep that information in mind, but I don’t think that’ll be happening anytime soon. I’ve got plenty of other games in my library to keep me busy without this weird learning curve

  • In highschool, back in 2007, I got my first taste of Linux in my highschool electronics class. The class was mostly focused on electrical engineering, however we had a computer in the room for research and for whatever reason, my teacher was a hardcore Linux guy. We talked about it for hours and eventually, I ordered a CD from Ubuntu by mail and installed it on my home PC, a computer that originally ran Windows ME. I’ve primarily used Windows since I do a fair bit of gaming, but I’ve always maintained a linux partition of some kind. On my laptop, I’m currently testing out the latest Ubuntu release, but before that, I was running Linux Mint DE in the Mate flavor with BSPWM as the window manager. On my main PC, I have a Windows 10 partition, and a Garuda Linux partition. Garuda is running Mate with BSPWM as well. The funny thing is, I’m not really a tech guy. I just like it and use it mostly just as a consumer. I can work my way around and fix most things when they break, but I’m more likely to just nuke my installation and spin up a new one when things get really bad. I’m planning a full PC upgrade soon and plan to go AMD instead of Nvidia so I can enjoy Wayland. The latest Gnome release feels really good and matches my rose tinted memories of Unity from way back when. Hoping to run that, but may still mess with a tiling window manager set up as well.

  • About five years ago, I had my Facebook name set to be my first name three times, first middle and last. Facebook thought it was fake, rightfully so, so they demanded that I send photo ID to verify myself. At that time, I didn’t have valid ID. didn’t have valid ID for about seven years at that time, I sure as fuck wasn’t going to get one just to use Facebook. I decided to just delete the account, then I deleted all of my other Facebook accounts, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc. they’re getting way too greedy

Pro-tip, at least when I last used Word, hold alt when dragging and dropping images. It somehow fixed the brokenness of the default way of doing it. I think this still works, I just haven’t had to type anything up in like 5-10 years, of the stuff I have, I don’t think I’ve ever had to include an image.

  • Child porn. There’s an official statement from the folks running lemmy.world explaining it. I really wish I was joking, but there were a couple of suuuuuuuper inappropriate posts, even for shit posting standards. I came across one and reported it. It was a porn gif and at the end, there was a text card saying the person in the gif is a child. Fucking pedos ruining shit for everyone else, they should make like a leaf and hang from a tree

I’ll level with you. This is from one of the Indiana Jones movies. The main character, Indiana Jones (left) is a college professor/archeologist. The Nazi (right), as in life, are the bad guys and is getting punched by the good guy. The joke is that the Nazi is being referred to as a trump supporter, which isn’t entirely inaccurate, however it is a stereotype nonetheless. Not all trump supporters are Nazis and not all Nazis support trump, however if it were a ven diagram, it would look like one circle since the outliers are very few and far between. Hope this helps
