"I affirm your identity! You’re free to be who you are without shame! As you die in a cardboard box under a freeway of exposure for failing to be exploited well enough, and as an intentional threat to the other poories to keep laboring for their corpo bribers. 🤷
Ooh, but here, have a ribbon! I hear they’re quite tasty when boiled."
They’re not the primary villain, those are the corpo Fascists, but they’re sure as shit the bumbling secondary antagonist. The Denethor to Sauron.
Allonzee@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the underrated quote that will stick with you for life?3·2 months agoThank you! I try to, even though at the end of the day the best you can do is the show runner that signed off on it, as you’ll never really know who invented it in the writer’s room.
Allonzee@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the underrated quote that will stick with you for life?11·2 months ago"Who I am is where I stand.
Where I stand is where I fall."
-Steven Moffat, Doctor Who
I have a lot of darkness in my head due to my upbringing. I’ll never get it out. That doesn’t stop me from being a good man, because who you are and what you’ll be remembered as isn’t your internal struggle, its what you chose to stand for in practice.
It is inevitable that capitalists will conquer their state, but with constant vigilance, for a time, capitalism can and is used as an engine to serve society, so long as it is heavily regulated and hobbled. The Nordic nations for example.
It’s when the capitalists begin to be allowed to influence their government, and convince the people THEY can live larger than their neighbors if it weren’t for all the social equity evil government enforces, capitalism’s signature siren call.
The Nordic countries still have free to roam policies. Capitalism here capturing their own regulators and being allowed to warp public opinion with blatant self serving lies through for profit media pulpits make some Americans eager to shoot other Americans.
I’m not for capitalism at all because it eventually leads here, to fascism, and eventually someone in power will be dumb or corrupt enough to let their guard down. But we let our capitalists conquer our government, as have several western nations. And here we are.
Never forget, the fruit of the tree of capitalism is fascism.
Capitalism unrestrained and left to do its thing, as it has, always leads to fascism. Fascism is the takeover of the state by the capitalists.
This is why fascism is blooming all over the western world. The global capitalist economy is simply in full bloom sitting on entirely captured nation states and fruiting.
The fruit being concentration camps, war, poverty, and scapegoating. Anything to blame literally anyone and everything else for all the inhuman malice the capitalists are doing to attempt to satiate their unquenchable greed.
If anyone still cares about maybe not ending the world for humanity, the capital markets must be destroyed, and speculative investment by passive robber barons not actively participating in laboring to produce products and services must be outlawed. But don’t worry, we’ll fade into the oblivion of greed made climate change out of cowardice. We’ll probably be grateful to die to that after the Fascists have had their fun.
Why? To keep foreign resource markets open to our profiteer’s exploitation.
Social tolerance of Greed\avarice is a blight that is ending the world by several vectors.

Honestly the vague hope was keeping me at my lowest until I learned to understand and completely accept that our world is ending by our own hands, detach from being on the human team, and just gawk at the freak show of the exploitative macro-cancer monkeys that we are with gallows fascination.
This is the same thing comedian George Carlin bragged about doing to find peace in his later years, BTW.
When you remove trying to root for us to be not horrible, we are a spectacular and peculiar thing to behold, a remarkable evolutionary oddity, like Pandas. Like how are we the apex predator?! It’s nuts and hilarious.
Allonzee@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is it just me, or is the whole world in a bad mood?243·3 months agoChinese people seem pretty happy on Rednote.
They mostly empathize with us Americans for our life of economic struggle for our wealth class in exchange for nothing but Subsistence.
They’re confused as to how it’s allowed to happen. They thought a lot of true horror stories about our health insurance murder industry and living paycheck go paycheck statistically unlikely to be able to cover a 400 expense was their government’s propaganda, and are horrified it’s not.
It’s amazing how many protections non-wealthy people have there.
I now completely understand why our government doesn’t want us having casual conversations with actual societies of people, as opposed to capitalist slaughterhouses like we are here in the US. Mooooo…
Also their cars are so high tech ours are in the stone age by comparison. No wonder they can’t sell them here, they’d eat our lunch. App controlled call the car to pull up to you, captains chairs that power rotate into new configurations, on and on.
Hey want to throw up? Here’s a Koch heir using daddy’s blood money to be “creative”
Allonzee@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What issue in society do you think is near impossible to fix?4·4 months agoFor schaudenfreude. Capitalism would collapse without the schaudenfreude of enforced inequality.
Almost everyone trained to worship capitalism is always taught to see their worth as a function of how badly other people are losing. That’s why homelessness is an expensive problem we choose to pay extra for.
Studies have shown that all the conditioned shelters, programs, and cleanup are far more expensive than just providing conditionless basic housing for everyone without. But the homeless serve an essential purpose under runaway capitalism that takes control of a society instead of being a lowly tool of it: Capitalist Scarecrows and to look down on and fear becoming.
How can I feel rich if there aren’t poories dying in the streets?
Allonzee@lemmy.worldOPto Memes@lemmy.ml•Will you let them distract and divide you again? It's what they do...1·4 months agoAgain, capitalism amplifies these divisions with the bully pulpits ONLY THE CAPITALISTS CONTROL through government and profit media.
You can’t have any movement they don’t inform and can’t kill entirely if they wish, because they own the signal, and a few techies on distributed social media doesn’t change that.
But nothing will change, because there are too many people that refuse to acknowledge that, that think their cause is more important and must take priority when the class war either created or exacerbates their oppression, effects more people, almost everyone, and while identify affirmation is a nice and in a decent society important thing, material needs, food, water, shelter for ALL are objectively a higher priority than telling 10% of the population for any subgroup “I see you, your identity is valid.” I’m all for that. But this is a literal war where people are being murdered, and a cause parade for any cause other than stop murdering/exploiting our very lives for profit us has no place in a war for the vast majority of the population’s survival.
And it’s ridiculous when people say “we can do both” no we can’t. We can’t do anything. We’ve been in a steady downward spiral for 60 years as income inequity has grown. We can’t do anything under this economy. Not one god damned lasting thing. That is by oligarch design.
But we won’t as a society unite and forcefully remove that common enemy because someone else has to have their symptom addressed before. Climate change will do what we should have in a few decades, force the permanent collapse of this inhuman economy, but it’ll hardly matter then, and nothing equitable will take it’s place.
Allonzee@lemmy.worldOPto Memes@lemmy.ml•Will you let them distract and divide you again? It's what they do...5·5 months agoI’m not saying to ignore them, I’m saying we have a common enemy using those differences to exploit and murder us by amplifying every division except owners vs workers using for profit media and captured government, encouraging us to fight one another over them so they can do so.
Note the absolutely confused and terrified tone the for profit media is going through right now when they’re perfectly fine when 10 kids get gunned down. That’s just another wedge for division, gun control, for them to stoke as no one that mattered, to them, died.
Im saying that until we pause and dethrone the owners, they will see to it those secondary divisions remain entrenched and heated to keep us weak, and therefore they are the primary threat that must be the priority to solve literally any of our great national blights.
We cannot begin to heal… Any division… Until the instigators that keep stoking them for private profit are defeated and made subject to society, government, and regulation again instead of controlling them.
Reigning in our sociopathic, murderous late stage capitalism is step 0 to any positive change. They are the gatekeepers. Or get comfy with everything continuing to decline until collapse. It’s hell now. It will get so much worse with them running government and controlling mass media.
Allonzee@lemmy.worldOPto Memes@lemmy.ml•Will you let them distract and divide you again? It's what they do...6·5 months agoI will do so!
Allonzee@lemmy.worldOPto Memes@lemmy.ml•Will you let them distract and divide you again? It's what they do...3·5 months agoPolice unions do not see themselves as part of this movement. With one exception – the International Union of Police Associations, which represents just 2.7% of American police – law enforcement unions are not affiliated with the AFL-CIO, the U.S. labor body that unites all unions.
Because as outlined culturally the police see themselves as the system itself, by nature of the job, as evidenced by their hostility towards the larger labor movement they’re often tasked with breaking, something the vast majority of other union heavy vocations don’t do, and are often given special carve outs when the labor movement and unionization are targeted legislatively precisely because it’s their job to enforce those rules.
American police are more a capital defense force, and unlike the larger labor movement, have their priorities of being unaccountable to those they police backed by the state. They’re the owner’s special little boys/girls, they attract and recruit conservative minded power seekers who conflate legality with morality, and they like it that way. Note their awesome insurance, their massive starting salaries with high school education, they have little to complain about. Not to the owner’s level at all, but they don’t live in the same America most do.
They probably could take this country for themselves, but have you ever met a cop who wasn’t a fan of structure for its own sake?

Allonzee@lemmy.worldOPto Memes@lemmy.ml•Will you let them distract and divide you again? It's what they do...3·5 months agoIf it really does just boil down to Workers v Owners, why don’t the cops simply seize the means of production themselves?

Incorrect, both parties take money from Wall Street. Only a tiny, tiny minority of the Democrats don’t, and those spoiler Democrats are hated by the DNC far more than the DNC opposes their esteemed Republican opposition.
If you refuse to see the capitalist oligarchs are the enemy that created the conditions for Trump, then nevermind and carry on, as there’s nothing that ever could convince you.
